Mr. WEO Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 Look, Kliff Kingbury knows what he's doing OK? He's only building a dynasty....! 2

But, a guy making the money he was, you have to keep giving your all and be ready to make the plays when your number is called. And he was just a guy that seemed to drift if he wasn't getting the looks. I did like the Zay pick, but I remain a skeptic of his future here at this moment. Hopefully he can get better, but he just doesn't excel yet at anything and I agree with you that confidence is probably a big part of that. If we bring in 2 or 3 more WRs via FA and draft, then I think his roster spot is in jeopardy. Foster already passed him, Duke has the potential to pass him as well. Thats 3 guys already in the room plus potential 2 or 3 more via FA and Draft and its going to be a stiff competition as they likely only keep 5 of those guys plus one more ST/Gadget WR. So if I am Zay then I am paying close attention to how many WRs we bring in and what type they are. If the Bills were to sign a guy like Golden Tate, Zay should probably start thinking about his future elsewhere. As much as I feel for those that suffer with confidence/anxiety issues, they really are the most difficult to overcome. Look at the guy the Sixers drafted 1 overall.

Agreed, and he is a good example, Fultz who just got traded at the deadline to Orlando for a fresh start. Yeah, if we sign either Tate or Humphries, thats a very direct threat to Zay here as they likely are going to be in the slot, especially Humphries. FA will be very telling to Zays future. If we sign 2 guys...or sign one of the slot guys...then the seat is very hot for Zay. Especially since I think its almost a certainty that Beane will draft at least one WR in the draft, and likely in the first 3 rounds. 1

Tate would be the more substantial signing, but even a Humphries would leave him in serious jeapordy. I don't see him as anything more than a slot receiver. Alot will depend on the players we're able to acquire, but Zay is not a lock to make the team IMO. I think he does still have some trade value. Sounds odd to get rid of assets at receiver when it was such a disaster last year, but I could see another team thinking they could fix his issues. Much will depend on Beane and McDermott's evaluation.(Obviously) Edited February 20, 2019 by BillsSB2020 1

Agree 100% with all this and I have been saying the same thing. Being it says prospect and practice squad on your avatar, guessing you are relatively new around here. But been seeing your posts on other threads, and I like your posts. So welcome and good job on the posts, always nice to get some new good contributors around here 1
KD in CA Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 Incentive based, one-year deal is a lot different than what the Bills owned him to stay. Good luck to him. He was a big disappointment but I have no hard feelings for the guy.

Even worse - they traded up for Fultz. With the Celtics. Who then took Jason Tatum at their spot. And got their extra 1st. Ouch. 1

Its hilarious how people act like our receivers suck all the time when we have had trash throwing to them. Almost every receiver leaves Buffalo (barring injury) and magically improves. Its also funny how every Bills player this board turns on magically finds work right away. I freely admit I was going off memory about Clay against us (too many hits to the head I guess). Still, I completely stand by the signing. At least, the Bills finally tried to do something about TE. For a decade, NE always makes TE a priority and we completely ignore it. dude, there is no hope for you. 1 1

Which is stupider, signing a veteran for $3.5M as a second TE or cutting a veteran TE to save $4.5M when you already have $80M under the cap and going into FA with only the owner’s daughter’s practice squad boy toy on the roster...
T master Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 Seeing as a young QB needs a good TE to bail them out from time to time thats probably why they brought him in . Good luck with that !! ?

Good for Clay and a nice addition for Rosen. Dude. Really? I actually like Clay and have always been one of his supporters, but you can't hide from the truth. His body has betrayed him and he's a shell of the guy the Bills thought they were getting when they signed him. He simply can't hold up to the rigors of the NFL any more.
GreggTX Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 He was pretty good when we first got him. Slowly, he regressed, but I think his problems in 2018 had more to do with an awful OL and a rookie QB than his skill level.

Freddie's Dead Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 A little Haiku: Chuck Clay, former Bill Now an AZ Cardinal Good Luck Chuck, you suck

And for all those so mortified over the negative comments Charles is getting, name me 1 remarkable season he had with us under that inflated contract? He was the Chris Kelsay of Bill's TE's. If anything helps accelerate Rosen's political career it will be Charles.... Its just weird that you all hate almost every single player that leaves buffalo. I think it’s a mental illness. 4 hours ago, Rico said: Sure, if it gets his takes off the board. Different opinions make you this uncomfortable? 1
