As predicted in most corners.  Glad they let him go prior to FA signing period as increases odds for him to possibly catch on with another team.

Solid citizen, nice talent with bad knees.

Yeah, I bet that he’s PISSED that he got $33.5M for 4 years in Buffalo. That’s really got to set him off.

In dont think its about the money so much as he could have put up better numbers else where.  According to a tweet I just read he was offered more by the Browns.

Agreed. The contract seemed like the most anticipated stick in the eye. Everyone was excited and it gave us nothing

I didn’t dislike the guy (from what little I know) or the player, but his contract and his health were a bad match. Now, if he goes somewhere else and has some miraculous cure, I’ll be kinda ticked.

As some others have already said the writing was on the wall with this one.

I'm still in the minority disappointed by this move though.  This was the first year that Clay was going to be worth his contract.  Even if 2018 wasn't his best year, it's hard to argue the Bills will be able to find someone better in FA for less than $4.5mil/year.

Maybe some extra money to get Jordan Phillips signed before FA?  So they can save their $ for the OL and WR.

He's a good guy who never played up to his contract, for whatever reason.  What it boils down to is that Whaley didn't seem to have a good grasp of where to spend the money.

Watch him come back to haunt the Bills.....said no one ever...

The Browns were willing to offer him more????  OMG...  Buffalo >>>>>>> Cleveland

Yeah - but you have to look at the actual cash.  We're eating 4.5 - but he already has that 4.5.   We're saving 4.5 in cash to get rid of him.  Not saying the Pegulas are in the poor house, but i wouldn't want to sign a bunch of game checks for millions of dollars to a straight up bum.

This doesn't add up...

  • 178 receptions and 9 TDs over 4 years
  • "Headlines"
  • "Deep free agent TE market"

That's the headline of a deep TE market?
