The Hot Truck is no more...

The source of countless late night pig outs has been absent this year, and unlikely to return.

First it was Johnny ‘s Big Red Grill, then The Chapter House burned down, now the beloved truck is gone,

No more PMPs or Triple Suis ?

.

Louie's Lunch Truck used to work the Thurston-Wait area when I was there.  That changed owners once or twice to my understanding since my departure.  I blame it on students being too health conscious in the last 15 years.  I guess maybe a lettuce- broccoli - carrot truck?

My favorite was the Triple MBC (meatball and cheese) on garlic bread, extra sauce.  Or, alternatively, just another clothespin on my aorta.

Times have certainly changed.  I suppose you can get all the nuts, berries, apples, kale, yogurt, granola,  etc., at Cornell Orchards and Gardens.

Myself, I’d be hanging at the Ag Schools Viticulture and Enology building, looking for samples. ?

And yet the Moosewood survives.  No longer revered by those who used to enjoy the vegetarian menu there.  I went there once because a date wanted to.  I thought she might be the future MRS at the time dietary preference aside.  Anyways, the Moosewood was a pretty big deal in Ithaca during the 1970's and the 1980's.

The Palms, The Nines, The Dugout, Pirro’s Pizza, Rongovian Embassy, all gone.  Only place still around is Rulloff’s.

What was the name of the dive on the Commons where they had 10-cent beers on Wednesday?  Dimeys night, they called it - throw down a buck and get 10 beers!  And back then, I was lucky to have a buck in my pocket.

Anyway, they still serve original Hot Truck sandwiches at Shortstop Deli...
