Another Fan Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Presently its the field I’m in. Can be rewarding but certainly brings its own challenges. Tomorrow for example I’m expecting I may get written up for a judgment call I made.
Augie Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Learn from it. Don’t stress over what might happen. That can be exhausting, I promise. Move forward. Just my advice. 1
Just Jack Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Did the patient survive? That's the important thing.

The Senator Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 From the OP, I really can’t tell if he/she is a patient, a care-provider, or a med-mal attorney. Anyway, I’ve had the unfortunate experience of being “in the system” - as a patient - for 7 years. It sucks. .

A victim, loser, or a nobody... Except those Roman Catholic kids in MAGA hats... They are winners!
Your Brown Eye Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 yes, made a career change been in it for 6 months
Doc Brown Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Just some advice....when you're amputating a "left leg" it's the patient's actual left leg. Not the leg to the left when looking down upon. 2

What struck me is the woman has been a veg since age 3. What kind of life is that? It would be hell if she is conscious at some level.

To someone who has experienced everything else, to have it taken away would be, but if it's all you have known would it be hell?

Got asked at least 10 times which one we're operating on today, they mark the correct one, just don't understand how this happens. I'm sure everyone heard the 1995 story of a man having the wrong leg amputated. When googling it, saw a story about another one that just happened last year (in Russia.) row_33 Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Al Bundy went to the hospital for a circular incision and woke up with something way more painful. 1

I've heard stories where they've asked the patient multiple times, had the correct area marked, and still did the surgery in the wrong spot. I can't even wrap my head around it.
