Wade's defense was outstanding.  However, Belichick's was better.  If the Rams had any offense at all, they might have won the game.

At least two Rams TDs dropped, but Pats defense as always this time of year was brutal and suffocating

The 1st td attempt to Cooks in the back of the end zone waVall Goffs fault. Way to late getting it off. The 2nd one to Cooks was Gilmore's arm bar ignored. McVay and his offense were terrible. Wade did his job.

What a shame. Wasted effort by Wade's D, which for most of the year was getting put down while the Rams' offense got all the praise. When it mattered most, who showed up and who didnt?

You mean if Brandin Cooks didn't drop a perfectly thrown ball into his arms in the endzone they might have won the game?  Goff threw an interception on what looked like the exact same route concept the very next play.

All in all, New England dominated the game, if not from the scoreboard perspective, from an on field perspective...the Rams looked like a Bills offense led by "bad Tyrod" for most of the night.

NE was on the field for nearly 7 minutes more than LA.  22 first downs.   407 yards.  16 catches between Edelman and Gronk on 19 targets. Michel and Burkhead had 137 yards on 25 carries.

Rams offense got smoked, but Wade's D struggled to get off the field from the start.

Yeah, that Pats defense against the Eagles last year was stifling.

..."The Ageless Wonder" at 71 still has "IT".......remarkable as was Lebeau coaching until 80.......really wanted Wade to get his ring....................

That is a pretty poor showing for what that offense was.  In the modern NFL its all about keeping teams out of the end zone.  The defense did its job and then some.  It was the offenses fault the TOP was so skewed, they couldn't put any drives together.

The D got pushed around from the first Q.  NE had 13 drives to LA's12.  NE used up that D, not letting them off the field.  Wore them down by the end.

As Romo pointed out, on their scoring drive, NE ran the same play 3 times in a row, with Brady going to 3 different receivers.  Couldn't stop them despite the same look 3 times.

That is how every game works.  The other team always gets the ball back at the end of the drive.

That was not a great drive.  But the best defenses in the league give up drives.  That is not an indictment of how the defense played as a whole.

The D did not get pushed around.  Yards are going to be given up.  The Pats have been running long, sustained scoring drives against every team they have come up against in the playoffs.  The fact that they couldn't complete (or even get into field goal range) consistently against the Rams is a testament to how good the defense played.

I was really disappointed that Wade didn't make any adjustments on Edelman. He continued to allow Edelman to stay open in the short zone without spying him. Brady's arm isn't what it used to be, make him throw downfield more & it's a different ballgame.

That's one where you gotta wonder if Wade didn't want a time out to reset his guys and McVay wanted to save 'em.

Overall, I think you're right, they held up pretty stout given the big TOP disparity but in the end they wore down.

His original point was that the Rams defense didn't play well this game.  That seems like a wild take.

They made 2 FGs, missed one and were in FG range another time but went for a 4th and 1 instead.

If the Pats had to win at least I won money on that first Cooks drop in the endzone. Had Sony michel scoring the 1st td across 3 different books. Ended up 2.6k thanks to that drop ball. Although I still rather have lost money than to see the Pats win. However, with 2 weeks to game plan and not buying into Goff felt it was foregone conclusion anyway.
