And one more thing: There's a difference between a game containing lots of punts because the offenses are inept and a game containing lots of punts because both defenses and defensive play callers are elite. Last night was one of the latter, not one of the former. Most fans don't like watching quality defense, I guess.

Exactly. It's the curse of fantasy football.

the Rams D was an 8 against a 6 Pats O

the Pats D was a 6 against a 4 Rams O

The whole point is to watch one team win and one team lose. Not the fashion they do it in. A team just won a Super Bowl. I don't think they care how 'boring' it was. Not every game is going to be a masterpiece.

I also don't care about the halftime show or commercials. I'm watching to see a sport played. I hate mixing concerts in with a football game.

most on here wanted the Pats to lose 98-0 with 10 Pats carted off forever

so they look for penalties not called and whine the whole game about how boring it is

must be hell to think like that about an unnecessary leisure time activitiy

Agree with many upthread that watching a blowout is worse than what we got last night, but it was still bad because you knew despite how close it was, that the Pats would engineer a late drive against a gassed D line, to put it effectively out of reach as the Rams O was out of sync all night.

true but with a blowout you get to see some points scored.

When all the talk is about It being a passing league, and you get last nights game ...  It is / was boring.

Blowouts are more boring - but it wasn’t a well played SB.  I like good defense, but both offenses were inept for much of the game and both blew easy plays.

All the talk by WHOM exactly?

To add to this Wade's defense was not stacked with talent and last night was one of the lesser NE defenses talent-wise.  Both sides leaned heavily on their respective coordinators and their abilities.

And to add to that: Each offense came out for their next drive trying new personnel groupings and play concepts to counter the defense they'd seen up until then. Each defense then accordingly adjusted, both staying one step ahead of the opposing offense. It was move, counter-move all night long. A chess match. It was beautiful, and tense, and close, and awesome. Boring? Psssshhhh.

Josh Allen is way more exciting to watch than either of those QBs. This is the first time I felt that a Bills QB was better than the QBs in the Super Bowl. If Allen is on either of those teams the game is probably a blow out.

Top to bottom very underwhelming and easily forgettable.

But I have to agree with others that a close game in the second half is still preferable to a blowout. I slept through the second half of Seattle Denver a few years back.

Eagles-Raiders

Raiders-Redskins

Patriots-Bears

Broncos-Redskins

Broncos-49'ers

Cowboys-Bills the first one

49'ers-Chargers

Giants-Ravens

Broncos-Seahawks

Those were boring Super Bowls. Last night's game was not boring.

That's not what I saw at all. The teams were so well prepared for the opposition and the defensive gameplans were so spot-on that neither offense could execute. Not due to "poor play", but due to excellent coaching.

That one was pretty enjoyable, watching Peyton Gump (the Big Game Chump) go down in flames. Remember back in the day, when some people would say he’s better than Brady?

Yesterday’s game was good, love seeing tough defenses that hit hard.

Manning is better than Brady.

Yes, it was boring ... the most boring because it was the most recent.  The NFL needs to step in at this point and ensure the Pats don't win anymore ... it's bad for the game.

So you did not see last year's Super Bowl?

Not only boring - heard on TV - worst ratings in the last decade.  What it amounts to is America is getting tired of New England.  Lot's of fans probably figured New England was going to win, so why bother watching.  If the NFL wants to have a healthier outlook, they need to figure out some way to hasten the demise of the Patriot dynasty.  Just my opinion.

Then Edelman finished getting dressed. Before he left into the Atlanta night, he said: “Offense sells tickets. Defense wins championships. This was a sign of a great team today.”

Boom.

I LOVE the fact that all the offense-first people hated it.

Love that. This is how football's meant to be played, on a razor edge with NO margin for error.

No margin for error?

Did we watch the same game. neither QB was good at all, missing throws all over the place.

It was an awful game, It wasnt good defense. It was Terrible bad offenses playing football.

Goff has regressed back to his rookie year.

Goff was the worst rsted QB for teh last month of teh season. Thanks NFL for F(_*^ this up so bad because of how your NFL OT rules work.
