dubs Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 My takeaways from the game: belichick is awesome. He won this game with the defensive game plan. All this talk of offense taking over is way overblown. The whole playoffs were almost about running and defense, highlighted by this game. Brady is still good but declining. McVay was exposed and abused. Wade can can still bring it. 1

Those were two serious momentum swinging plays. I wouldn't mind if they'd just call the Pats OL for a hold once in a while, maybe twice.
Tcali Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 this is really just a bad league now. walsh had some great teams to battle him. lombardi died young(that redskins team was up and coming quickly). belichek has had no one for over 20 yrs to compete with.

But they have been calling those a lot this year. 2) non-PI call on Gilmore. That seemed an obvious call to make to me. Would have been a game changer. Think the pats probably still come down and win. 3) the illegal hands to face on the Pats last drive while the offensive guy was holding at the same time. Should have been offsetting penalties. 4) Woods (I think) completion in the first half. Thought that was pretty obviously an incomplete pass. The one on the sidelines. 5) oh, and the hold on the big Gurley run. That was pretty bad. That was the game changer. Rams finally worked out off tackle set and it would have set up the rest of that drive and possibly the rest of the game. They'd have been up 7, making Pats throw more, exposing Brady...totally different game w/out that call. 1
Mark92 Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 So....... Now everyone wants a defensive minded coach? This game was actually nice to see after all the high scoring games this season. Yes TD,s are fun to see but damn it's awesome to see pretty darn good offenses not be able to fart because of the D. 1
Georgia Bill Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 The success that Brady and the Patriots have had is just unreal. 9 Super Bowls in 17 years. Brady's been in more than half the Super Bowls that happened since he's been a starter. Unbelievable. I know he says he is not going to retire but I do think that was his last Super Bowl. Gisele is going to convince him to retire.

That call should have never been made. The problem was that the Rams were so utter crap on offense that even a holding call was enough to kill a drive. That is all on McVey. Suck your teeth over it for the rest of your days

You hit the nail on the head. This really sucks and i hate the pats but i dont feel as bad as when theyve won the other ones. I feel a lot better about where were headed

Me too - this was just something to get through. If we can take the reigns if the division, I’m not going to care in a few years whether they had 5 or 6.

I’d been all about ‘give the refs a break.. one big blown call.. they’re human.” But the Saints could’ve won that game. Brees & Payton vs Brady & Belichick. Ok! Because Goff and McV choked hard. No the saints wouldnt have won.
