Obama was a modern Cicero — only Cicero memorized his speeches.....through an odd process I don’t really understand....anyways, never understood the TelePrompter mocking. I’d use one in his position.

It's like walking through a house. It takes some training, but it's effective.

Visited your beautiful country a couple years back. Sydney is an awesome city, stayed down in the Rocks district, Bondi (sp), Blue Mountains, etc.

Likewise. I was in Sidney for Anzac Day and saw the sunrise service. Loved my short time there. Beer was expensive though.

Gee Bernie, if we implement socialism in America, you're going to have to make due with just one house not three like you currently own.

Apparently. I do NOT get it. I’ve read about it. Don’t get it.

Im amazed at people’s ability to recal things. Like the people that memorized the Iliad and could recite it. How? A lot of house walking I guess.

This isn’t accurate.  All nations have an elite financial class; the difference is that in Marxist societies the financial elite are the political elite.

It's just one of several techniques to remembering things. I used that a few times, but never mastered the technique though. That takes a lot of concentration and to remember a tome - it would take a very, very large estate - not just a house.

This is true, and because he's currently a bona fide member of the ruling elite, he naturally assumes that he and his darling thief and embezzling wife will have a life of ease at the expense of the millennials who adore him so. Hugo Chavez was also so adored.

"I'm amazed that people can remember things!"

That explains so much about why you are you...

The women lead an impromptu USA cheer that the president even enjoyed but let’s mock them in a meme.

You like the message of unity in the SOTU but really actually don’t.

what is apparently lost upon you, is that the Dems don't believe in unity. they don't even believe in the USA and while funny is truly sad if you stop to think about it.

Lighten up Francis. BM has the purest of intentions to make us all better.  His 14th favorite poem shows this:

Oak leaf

on the ground

crisp and crumbly

covers all

hid that dog crap

from my view

transferred it

to my shoe

But it's stem helps me remove

the fecal stank from every groove

Not lost on me. But “they did it too” is brother -sister logic.

Not true. They believe in the USA too, and it’s just as wrong when Dems say the right doesn’t believe in the country as a whole.

America is not an agreed-upon concept. It is an idea that encompasses many beliefs, many of which are in conflict, and those beliefs change over time. We are big enough to have the left, right, center, conspiracists, stoners...

That is really a two part thing and you're being unfair IMO.  I can assure you that I am not obsessed with you.  I don't know what you mean by he who must not be named other than it is someone else that is obsessed with you.  Based on your politics my guess would be Tom Tuttle from Tacoma Washington but I could be wrong.

Anyway your poetry stuff did draw me in I suppose, but it isn't an obsession.  The stuff you've posted is all fluffy and clearly written by people who sat in rooms and thought all day after leading a cushy existence.  That's fine but there are other places in the world, and some have more of an edge.  Poetry from there is important too, wouldn't you agree? The oak leaf is different from the maple leaf because of its neighborhood.  It doesn't make either one wrong.  Both classics give people cause to think.  Clearly Tubbs background is different from some of the hoy palloy you've referenced.  That's ok.

Maybe you grew up with hippy parents and learned to love that poetry.  No problem.  I grew up in a place that didn't foster that.  There were brilliant kids and some truly talented with the pen.  But when they were growing up and went to school there were certain teachers there that would hurt the children.  Any way they could, they would do it.  We tried to learn but they would just pour derision on anything we did.  It brought down the guard of many of them  All their weaknesses were exposed.  I think it is why my friend Brian Temple ended up a stoner and died the way he did.  We all tried to hide our weaknesses but the teachers were relentless. It gave us an edge and changed our taste in poetry.  That's ok isn't it?  In retrospect, even the teachers had their issues although it is no excuse for what they did.  Still it is sad.  When they went home at night there psychotic wives would often thrash them to within inches of their lives.  This was known around town, but the torture chambers that were their classrooms remained covered up.  Maple leaf/Oak leaf amirite?

Trump's socialism call-out was by far his best moment of his speech and the WSJ board editorial today does a great job calling out the Dems.

It's behind a pay wall for some but the highlights:

Quote

• Medicare for All. Bernie Sanders’ plan...

• The Green New Deal. This idea, endorsed by 40 House Democrats and several Democratic presidential candidates, would require that the U.S. be carbon neutral within 10 years. Non-carbon sources provide only 11% of U.S. energy today, so this would mean a complete remake of American electric power, transportation and manufacturing...

• A guaranteed government job for all. To assist in this 10-year transformation of society, the Green New Deal’s authors would “provide all members of our society, across all regions and all communities, the opportunity, training and education to be a full and equal participant in the transition, including through a job guarantee program to assure a living wage job to every person who wants one.”

• A new system for corporate control. Senator Elizabeth Warren wants a new federal charter for businesses with more than $1 billion in annual revenue...

• Vastly higher taxes. These ideas would require much more government revenue, and Democrats are eagerly proposing ways to raise it. Mr. Sanders wants to raise the top death tax rate to 77%. Ms. Ocasio-Cortez wants a new 70% tax rate on high incomes,...

HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED says that if I say his name, he will make me regret it.

Think of all the things you could have done with the time you spent posting all that silliness! Read a poem. Talk to your family. Plant a tree. I'm as guilty as you man. America is great. Everyone here is part of this community. I'll happily buy you a beer too brother.

1) You are wrong. Tom was a conservative engineer that went to WASU.

2) Are you proposing we tear down the Wall? /sarcasm
