JoeF
After adding a couple of interior lineman, the Browns today cut Kelvin Garmon who was their big OL signing in offseason '04...he strained his ACL and MCL mid way through last year but his rehab should be far enough along now to judge him. Don't know if he is a better option than Bennie Anderson -- but he has been a 4 year starter with Cowboys, Chargers and Browns. Anyone have any insights? Was he the guy that Michael Irvin slashed with barber scissors??? 2004 Scouting Report - Football Scouts Inc. Name: Kelvin Garmon, 6' - 2" 350lbs Position: Offensive Guard Grade: 69 | Key Alert: None Stats: Garmon Comment: Garmon is a short, compact player with adequate athletic ability. Has above average strength at the point of attack and will win most one-on-one match-ups if he reaches his block. Has some mauling qualities and is able to use his size, strength and leverage to drive his blocks when he's in position. Does a decent job of pulling and will generally reach the second level. Has a wide frame and has the long arms to force defenders to take a wider angle to the quarterback. He has the change of direction skills to redirect and hit the moving target but he appears confused in space and he gets himself in a lot of trouble by making mental mistakes. Loses focus too often and will give up big plays or make critical errors because of a blown assignment or because he is too tentative. Overall, Garmon still has lapses in concentration, but has improved in this area as he has gained experience.
AKC
From a column on www.nfldraftblitz.com: Kelvin Garmon has been a huge disappointment, even before his knee injury. Garmon can't play in space and protect, period. His run blocking appears overrated too. Apparently he has an almost unique penchant for idiotic penalties with incredibly poor timing. Atthe same time he prides himself on having the refs watch him closely because "you never know when I'm gonna' slap somebody upside the head". Last season strained quad, concussion and torn ACL and MCL. Sounds like a reach based upon the matter in his noggin' and maybe carrying 350 pounds on a chassis that would prefer 290. The Jokeman
The Browns signed two OGs in free agency this year which tells me they had little faith in Garmon's abilities.

If he's still pulling that crap at that age, its never going to change. Some teams might be able to look past it, but Donahoe doesn't strike me as the GM who will even consider signing that kind of walking brainfart.
