I've been saying (and getting flamed for it) for years how sick I am of Kelly, Reed and Thomas being around the team.  They had their chance to be champions and they blew it in historical fashion.  Let the current players/coaches do their things and go find a hobby.

Unless the HC approaches Kelly and asks him to speak to Josh Allen, then Kelly should mind his own business and stay out of Allen's ear.

I'm sure he means well, but he needs to go dance on his own pole and let the CURRENT Bills do their jobs.

thats a little harsh there Gug.

That being said .....  What has Jimbo done for any of the past QB's?     (I'm sure that this is an annual conversation)

Agreed, I want Kelly nowhere near Josh.

Period.

Your time's over Jim, time to fade away gracefully.

I have a lot of respect for Kelly and his cancer battle, but I really don't need him telling Josh Allen all of the things in Kelly's mind, that he is doing wrong.  I might feel different if Allen sought him out for advice, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  The guy can't seem to let go.

Allen will end up being a head case.  He has coaches telling him what to do, Palmer telling him what to do & now Kelly wants to tell him what he needs to do.

BN: What do you think of Josh Allen?

JK: I think he’s the real deal. He needs the quarterback coach, the offensive coordinator to get in his mind. I have already talked to him and told him we need to sit down this offseason. ... I need to tell him some things that I saw that he was not doing that he needs to make sure are instilled in his mind, that I don't know if he's been told.

I never want to tramp on anybody's feet right, but we'll sit down, I'll go over some things with him. (Kelly said he intends to give the specifics to Allen rather than making them public.)

I'm excited about him because his personality is what you need in Buffalo. He's a hardworking SOB. It’s everything I love to see, but he can't do it alone.

FWIW, these guys are Bills Alumni and as long as they live in the region they will always be part of the Buffalo scene.

That's great and all, but keep them away from the current team.

It’s comical to me that a handful have such strong opinions on this this. What could he possibly say to Allen to hurt his progression??? Good lord, dude.

And Kelly left it vague enough that we don’t even know it’s an X’s and O’s thing.

Yes, why bother with people who made it work, far better to stay in the muck of 20 years of high suckitude

Maybe bring in Flutie so Allen can be instructed in failure and unending self-pity

I don't think you understood my post. I doesn't mean anything to me one way or the other if Kelly wants to talk to him. Maybe it would be helpful and maybe not. My point is why is this news? Just talk to him. Is it necessary that the public knows about it?

Yeah, well, all things being equal I'd rather this team have a chance to exist on its own merits.

Not sure why most are misinterpreting LB's post as concern that JK will ruin JA with his advise. LB clearly said that he would be ok if Allen sought out Jim, but this is (once again) Jim offering his unsolicited advice. Put yourself in McDermott's shoes, would you be thrilled about this, regardless of Jim's success or legacy? McD has already answered how he views Josh's time with Palmer, in that it needs to fit with their plan for him. So of course any other "guidance" would have to be met with some concern.

I love Jim, my favorite Bill of all-time, but he had his time. Root from afar, offer advice if requested and do so in a non-public fashion, but let the coaches do their job.

His name is on the Wall, he has a Suite, Bar and Restaurant  the  Jim Kelly Club.

I'm not saying he should be involved with giving the team guidance ...   He just won't be ignored by the Buffalo media.

I'm cool with him being a rah rah cheerleader type. Just not interested in him interacting with the players.

It never hurts to sit down with a legend if nothing else as a sign of respect. Listening to what Kelly has to say won't hurt as the smartest people are always willing to listen to advice given to them. After listening, the smartest people are also able to extract the most valuable and applicable information and put it into their tool kit.

JK is a HOF QB. Talking with him could only help a young QB.  If people are telling him something different than what Jim has to offer, then I'm sure he can sort that out.  Advice from a HOF QB can only help in his development.

Jimbo is HOF.  I think he would know more about QB than 90% of the entire NFL coaching world.  If I was JA, I would show up with a notepad.

I think he forgot a bunch of it by now

Not always... it is a different league now then when Jim played. Things are done differently.

It's a different league, but it's the same game.  Jim knows his *****.  It's not like he's ever been away from the game.  He understands how the game has changed and he knows what he sees that maybe a rookie is missing.

He has been away for a very long time already. It never helped any of the other QBs. Just going to be PR Josh saying he had a nice conversation with Jim blah blah and you will lap it up.

Nothing wrong with listening to Jim Kelly.  After all, he may know a thing or two.  I hear he went to four super bowls in a row.

Even if he gives him bad advice, JA isn't going to just blindly follow whatever Kelly says.  JA has a brain too

I heard he was the only QB in NFL history to best John Elway, Dan Marino and Joe Montana in three straight conference championships.

He's been around the team and the NFL every single year since he retired.  He has NEVER been away.   He knows what he's talking about and if Allen is smart, he'll listen and learn.  As far as I know, he never worked closely with ANY of the other QB's.  Now that he's expressed an interest in talking with Josh, it can only aid in his development.  If you're saying Kelly doesn't know what he's talking about and the game has passed him by, I'm calling bull####.
