Great Canadian from the Maritimes First memories were of her on the CBC, black and white TV with eye-patched Gene MacLellan (scared the heck out of me) and Ian and Sylvia

For one Jimmy Page bought Aleister Crowley's Boleskine mansion and they recorded there. Crowley practiced black magic there prior. Jimmy Page was heavily interested in the occult BTW Zepp still rocks. I have been listening to them 40 years, they still sound great 2

Here’s some of my gurls.. note the mandolin. (Going to California) Nice! The blue steel Les Paul is gorgeous. I've got a Deluxe Sunburst Strat very similar to yours. We need a pic of your pedal lineup next! Edited January 11, 2019 by TheElectricCompany 1

My son's first amp was a little 30w Line 6 (bought the amp and a Squier Vibe Series Strat for $300 out the door - that Strat sounds just as good and stays in tune better than my buddy's American Fender Strat and my Mexican). When I knew he was serious about playing, I got him a Peavey 6505+ 112 Combo, which is 60 watts all tube (LOUD). One of his Christmas presents this year was a Celestion V-30 speaker for that amp. He's a metal head. But he plays some sweet blues, too. There's weekly blues jam at a local tavern. I brought him there to jam with the big boys and he held his own. So I got him a Fender Blues Jr. - 12 inch speaker, 15w tube. That amp smokes!! Squire Strats and Celestion speakers get a lot of bad press, which I simply don’t agree with. My Squire Strat sounds perfect and keeps in tune too, and I have a double stack Celestion cabinet system I run my Travler 2000 from Earth Sound Research* amp though. Sounds fantastic! My Squire tele is a 5 string, Open G set up ala Keef. The Stones repertoire lives there. *Cool story behind the company. 2 guys -1 from Fender, 1 from Marshall created the company intent on combining the best of both amps. Hugely successful early on, they were sued into oblivion soon after by their former employers and forced to shut down. I’ll play mine til it dies. Here’s one quick story http://www.pedalhaven.com/history-earth-sound-research-amplifiers/ 1

Re: Squiers, there are different levels, with Affinity being the lowest and the Vibe Series being the highest (which I'm sure you know). It's his first guitar and he's gotten others since; but he'll never get rid of that one! 1
Chandler#81 Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 @TheElectricCompany, it’s currently in a retooling phase -much like the Bills.. The little black Danelecto ‘Black Coffee’ isn’t for the faint of heart.. 1

He has a nice collection of 80s silver screw Boss pedals (including the DS-1). He loves the Big Muff and uses it playing bass all the time, as well as with guitar. I am loving this thread. 1
Mr Info Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 @Gugny & @Chandler#81 Just curious - a friend is Lindy Fralin and wondered if you (or your son) use his pickups? https://www.fralinpickups.com/ Lots of well-known guitarists have purchased his hand-wound pickups. I was with him when Derek Trucks called with a free ticket to Lockn Fest to meet with him when he was playing there.

He has two Schecters, both have EMG pickups. He has one Ibanez, which has Ibanez Infiniti pickups. All but the Strat are active. That is super cool about your friend, by the way! 1

I tried all my guitars out before purchasing them to assure they fit and sound great -and many others I put back. To me, when it sounds and fits great, that’s mine, even if it immediately goes into another tuning. Fender & Gibson have the best sounds right out of the box, so I don’t mess with perfection. i have a couple Epiphones which have a softer, sweeter sound, so I don’t mess with them either. The black Epi LP is also dramatically tuned to Eflat minor. Strum the opening riff to Jumpin’ Jack Flash and you know immediately why. Edited January 11, 2019 by Chandler#81
