Ittakestime Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Upgrade is an understatement. I would not only make him RB coach, but make him the run game coordinator too.
Magox Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 I'm surprised that the Steelers weren't that high in rushing yardage with all the Bell and Conner hype. They were both fantasy studs.
Nanker Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 I'm not so sure he's and upgrade over Skipper... https://www.buffalobills.com/team/coaches-roster/kelly-skipper
formerlyofCtown Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Yes because their RBs have not been up to snuff the past few years. Is this really the guy they are blaming. 1
Nanker Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 If you're just looking at this past season, that's pretty short sighted IMHO. The Bills were without Wood and Cogs and their OLine sucked terribly. The OLine coach was shown the door because of it.
Rigotz Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Saying a running back coach is great because his running backs do well is really stupid. If you want to thank any position coach for their run game success, you should probably look to O-Line coach ... or the fact that they have a good passing offense as well, which opens up the run game. There's a reason this guy got fired despite their running success. 1
ProcessAccepted Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Why is it that whenever anyone becomes available (player or coach) I learn about it from a thread where people are suggesting that we pick them up. ?

As you can see I said “could be” an upgrade ... not that I believe he is. The reason I say “could be” is because the Bills were a terrible at running the ball and the Steelers weren’t. Of course other things factor into it, including the OL which is being addressed, but to assume the RB coach is unable to get upgraded when looking to improve the offense seems a stretch. I didn’t say it was an obvious upgrade. Also, what has Kelly Skipper accomplished? Honest question.. I don’t know.
C.Biscuit97 Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Thank god the Steelers got rid of the real problem with the team. This will take care of everything. 5
RyanC883 Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 This guy did a great job with the Steelers. Clearly the Steelers have a better OL than the Bills, but he went from Bell, to Connor, to Sanders, who was never really a RB, all performing at a high level. 1
RyanC883 Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Check out this stat of Saxon's. "In 18 NFL seasons as a running backs coach, Saxon had one of his backs reach the Pro Bowl 15 times. " It also looks like he previously coached here. https://triblive.com/sports/steelers/14479194-74/rbs-coach-james-saxon-let-go-after-5-years-with-steelers
MrEpsYtown Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 I'm guessing he maybe follows Munchak to Denver (if he gets the job)

MAJBobby Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 Fired the wrong Coach. Let me guess Development of James Conner never happened. Ooo wait
BobbyC81 Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 I remember going to San Jose State games back in the 80's when he was playing.

That pipeline is nothing but bad Juju for us.
