WMDman Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 id pick it up, hes been developing nicely 16
Virgil Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 How much? We have the cap space, I’d do it unless you think you can decline it and sign him for less.
Rc2catch Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Yeah he needs to come back. He’s not the pass rushing monster we all hoped with the high draft status but he has carved out a very valuable niche in this defense 1
Mango Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Just need to find a way to keep him around. Worst case scenario he is good depth for us. Best case scenario he continues to develop. If that means taking the 5th year option at 9-10 mil so be it.

Obviously he's not an elite DE but he does have an impact. 1
aceman_16 Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Skip it. IF he plays well tag him....it will cost about the same anyhow and it will keep him hungry. if not, the Bills just dump him.
CNYfan Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 I think he bought in to the process and worked hard to improve. He batted down a lot of passes and set a strong edge. But best of all he took on L. Fournette and got the stadium and the team all riled up. That was great. I hope they keep him, and even consider an extension. 6 1 2
Ittakestime Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 No way you pick that up. He is not worth 10 million guaranteed. Back to back 4 sack seasons. Just sign him to a contract extension with multiple years. 5
whatdrought Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 I’d offer him a contract for 5-7 million a year for 3-5 years and decent guarantees. I doubt he’d get better on the market. 2

If you have a rep for tagging, that's a turn-off for free agents that visit. Buffalo is going to have a hard time attracting free agents as it is, last thing needed is a rep for tagging. 1

I agree to disagree with you. Pretty much EVERY team uses it. Also, the 5th year option is "essentially" the same thing as a tag. The player is one more year obligated to the team without anything they can do about it. IF anything. He would make more with a tag vs the option. I wouldnt undersell the "influence" or sure money. 1
Tatonka68 Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Definitely earned it, unless you want to resign a longer contract.
Aussie Joe Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 I was reading elsewhere that as the 5th year option is only guaranteed for injury, they can pick it up in the off season and then change their minds at the end of the season ... presumably if they are not happy with his play in 2019.. I was very much on the fence about him at the start of this year but he has stepped up this season ., I would like to see him get a second contract... seems like it’s been a few years that one of their rookies has done this.. 1
PlayoffsPlease Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Depends on what my other options are. So far in his career, shaq is just a guy.
billsfan89 Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 What's the cost of the 5th year option? He is under contract for 2019 so you can let him play it out. I am not sure if I would pick it up.

eball Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 The guy improved all year, bought in, and showed his potential on Sunday. Why wouldn't you keep him around? 4 1
