WideNine Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 Thanks Kyle - appreciate all the hard work you put in for the Bills. Best wishes to you and your family on your retirement.

Fred Smerlas So Kyle is essentially a guaranteed Wall of Famer. As far as his league-wide reputation goes, it's interesting to note that he's finishing 183rd at the moment in official NFL career sacks. The vast majority of the 182 in front of him are DE's and pass-rushing OLB's, so I don't know how he ranks exactly as a pass-rushing DT in the league. But it's probably very respectable. Ted Washington is wondering "WTF"? 1 1
Wo-Bah Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 KW and the late Kent Hull: if there are (were) 2 more "lunch pail" guys built for Buffalo, I'd like to know who.

I can't find a list anywhere, but he seems to be in the 15-20 range as far as all time DT sack leaders. John Randle had 140! I know he was primarily a pass rushing DT, but that's crazy. I don't think Kyle is HOF worthy, but he certainly deserves to be honored by the team in every conceivable way.

Ted Washington was better than all of these players. Granted, he only spent 6 years on the Bills, but in all of those years the Bills' D ranged from above average to elite.
Augie Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 I’m not a jersey guy, especially of current players. Kyle would have been the exception. He’s just that kind of guy. You know you’d never regret it. 1
HomeskillitMoorman Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 Can we expect a replacement acquisition or does this also count as McBeane being “blindsided”?
ghostwriter Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 Bittersweet. On one hand I'm happy for him, otoh it's sad to see him go. I hope he has a fantastic life outside of football and I hope he stays involved with the Bills in some way or form. He's one of the greatest to ever wear red, white and blue. Absolute legend. 1 1

He didn't spend the majority of his career with the Bills, so I don't consider him among the "career Buffalo Bill DT's." Having said that, he was the best 3-4 DT we ever had and one of my very favorite players during the Wade Phillips era.

BillyWhiteShows Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 One of the best Bills defensive linemen of the team’s modern era. Kyle has slipped a little but is still playing at a good level. Glad to see he is calling it a day, while he still can play. 1

I mean yeah there is one game to go but its basically over. Watching McDermott get totally outclassed on the sideline by Belichick for the 4th consecutive time on Sunday my thought turned to Kyle Williams seeing that and figuring winning next year seems too unlikely to make all that hard work worthwhile. That was a BAD loss. Wouldn't be surprised if that tipped the scale. 2 2 1
ChronicAndKnuckles Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 One of my favorite Kyle Williams memories was when he told Aaron Maybin after he held out to actually earn the money that he was commanding. We all know what happened to the "Wes Craven" of defenses.
