Another Fan Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 I know it seems less and less get sent each year. Typically they get tossed but I know sometimes cards can have special meaning to people. My grandmother still has one I sent her when I was 5.
Augie Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 Grandmothers are like that. Cards hang around until roughly when the tree goes down.

You just annoy her now, most likely. ?
TigerJ Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 I know of people who cut pictures out of the Christmas cards they receive and use them to make the Christmas cards they send out the following year.
row_33 Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 Not intentionally, I move one pile of books and find a card from 12 years ago
Marv's Neighbor Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 If you live aways from where the cards come from, the return addresses are useful. 1

SinceThe70s Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 How the f**k should I know? That's wifey's domain I look forward to seeing them every year, but it's not a keepsake to me. She probably sends them to the street along with the tree when we tear it all down. But if she doesn't, I wouldn't know.

Gugny Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 If the card is from someone near and dear to me, it gets saved until I de-Christmasize the house. If it's a card from someone who's not near and dear to me, it get's saved between the time I open it and the time I walk to the garbage can.

LoL .. Not sure if you're as clever as you think. A late card is often obvious. Sounds more like planned obsolescence on your part. You seriously don't have people you want to send a Xmas card to? But you feel obligated anyway? Perhaps I've misinterpreted your comments, but why bother sending any if you only send when you receive? With that said, we employ your base strategy on a limited basis. Every year we identify potential drop-offs, one or two at most that we wait until we receive a card before sending and otherwise they get dropped. People we've fallen out of touch with or didn't get a card from the previous year (usually one and the same).

Guffalo Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 We used to send out tons in the 80s and 90s, once the kids grew up it slowed down, now we have not sent any since about 5 years.
