So I guess the question is can we find a better TE or player for 4.5m?  Because we will eat 4.5m

Yeah but they’ll still have $85M.

Can we find a free agent TE who can contribute more than 21 catches, 184 yards receiving, and 0 TD for $4.5 million?

Probably.

I’m pretty sure he will end up in New England next year.

Is there a Walgreens there with discounts on glucosamine and joint supplements?  Mineral baths?  Hoveround scooters?

I think Croom is better anyway. To bad we didn’t keep O’Leary. Croom and O’Leary would have been better then any of Clay this season

Jesse James and one of the Baltimore guys, Maxx Williams or Nick Boyle. Draft a guy somewhere.

Thomas is not good. Croom can't block. The position needs a complete overhaul.

I guess we forget he was our leading receiver for a couple seasons.

Exactly. He has been productive, although not elite, when healthy in past seasons. It is clearly time to move on though.

...when exactly does this experiment end?......what are exactly the beneficial attributes that have kept this guy around?....

Then that, to me, is the answer.  Time to cut bait

I do think Clay will be released, but I wouldn’t say it’s a no-brainer to release McCoy to save cap space.

The Bills already have like $90 million in cap space for next season.

I highly doubt that Beane is going to go blow all of that hard earned cap space in a single offseason.

I think he will spend a decent portion, but I don’t see the Bills as a cap team next year by any means. Beane has preached buindling through the draft and being smart in free agency.

So I don’t see it as a priority to cut Shady for cap space.

And Seeing as he wasnt traded at the deadline when we when there were said to be offers, I think they will most likely give him a chance to rebound (behind a hopefully improved o line).

you could be right on everything except every team has to spend 89% or more every year and in a 5 year span needs to be an avg of something like 92% spent

His 10 catches for 200 yds (+/-) this season is definitely reason to extend him for another five years?
