I've been part of this board or other boards for as long as there have been boards.  :)

I started back in the drew Bledsoe days on the buffalo range.  Boy did we hate poor Drew.  Hes a statue.  League is going toward mobile quarterbacks.   Hes a dinosaur.

Enter losman...hes mobile.   But wow he wasnt the answer.  Not very smart and inaccurate.   We need a passer.

Enter trent.  Hes accurate but he checks down too much.  We need someone to push the ball down the field.

Enter fitz.  Hes too much of a cowboy and tries to push the ball too much and is turnover prone as a result.

Enter orton...who most actually liked.  But we still complained that he was too stationary.  A statue.  Need more mobility.

Enter tyrod.  Holy *****.  Hes mobile but here we go with the checkdowns ahain.  Cant we just have both.

Enter Allen.  A mobile guy.  With a cannon.  That NEVER checks down.  Pushes the ball.  And for the most part does an ok job protecting the ball.  And we complain that hes inaccurate.  But if he checked down more to improve the accuracy numbers.  We would B word that he checks down too much.

My point.  Enjoy the ride.  Allen 10x the talent level of any of these bozos.  He doesnt have great accuracy stats not because he's I Inaccurate but because if he needs 10 yards he throws it 15.  We saw Stafford complete more passes last week but on 2 huge plays he threw 5 yard passes on 3rd and 8.  Would that make you happy?

Once allen learns to take the easy yardage with his arm the same way he does with his legs the numbers will come...and we will have nothing to complain about.  This guy tries to make plays every damn time he has the ball.  Which is exciting.  Once he realizes we can score 5 yards at a time too....look out.

So what was your name on this  board before you joined last year?

i like Allen.

Did you go by a different username back then? I was a member of the board, but this board seems much more welcoming and inviting.

Dude many on this board actively cheered for Tyrod's demise in Cleveland. We are some spiteful pr***s

Just revisit the 30 page long week 3 TNF thread where he got bench and ask yourself if we're talking about TNF or Tyrod because we broke a crappy game TNF post record that night.

Why in the world would folks root for Tyrod Tailor's demise? He was an upstanding man as a member of the Buffalo Bills. Sure he had his shortcoming and I'm tickled pink that we have a franchise quarterback but there's no reason to pile on Taylor.

I don't think it's a matter of "learning to take the easy yardage, he's not seeing a whole bunch of wide open guys, several each week, often on key plays, that he's going to have to correct.

If he can do that, I agree, it'll be a ride.  If not however, he won't ever amount to being more than an average passer if he's lucky.

Take a look at his splits in the Red Zone sometime and compare it to any QB you want to.

Well done @Hebert19

This could be the best post I've ever read on this site. Perfect summary of the crazy views on every QB we've had. We want them until we have them and we rip them apart. Great post

Eh... doesn't Allen go into the Losman mold? I don't mean to say that he'll be as bad as him, but you're making him out like some mold of a QB they've never tried... they have.

What about Toilet Manuel?

Lol toilet Manuel. And I see so many posts on this board about how Peterman is a great guy and they wish him the best. It's kinda gross.

I never hated Fitz for what it is worth. I reluctantly came to the conclusion he wasn't the guy but I always, always loved Fitz. I think he understood the fan base and where the franchise was and what it had been through better than any other QB we have had. I have never rooted for a team to make it more than that hot start Chan team. They were the likeable Bills even if ultimately lack of talent and depth was their undoing.

Allen definitely has some of that same fire and competitive edge that Fitz had and I think he understands how long we have been looking for "the guy". Let's hope the search is over.

The game never slowed down for Losman..  it already is for Allen.

I have watched Allen like all of you the whole year... He has progressed some in his passing game, and showed off some mad scrambling ability, knows how to slide or get out of bounds, and has shown some smarts in when to throw the ball away and not take a negative play....  More importantly at the end of his rookie season, He has not regressed in any facet of his game.

He does bring excitement in the form of being the exact opposite type of QB we've had here for almost 2 decades post Jimbo. A non check down, not smallish, but the cannon arm that actually needs to be tamed a bit and that uncanny ability to be a big boy scrambler.

A strong finish will cement most fans offseason confidence. A pair of ho hum games to end the season will leave the offseason up for lots debate...  Would love to see Allen have that game where he locks horns with Brady and we see some of his ceiling on display...  Now that would really make the offseason exciting.

Either way with both Allen and Edmunds looking good I'm going to be ok this year I think. It will definitely be nice to be able to be thinking about something else besides a starting QB.

What I think... (worth whatcha pay for it)...

I think Allen lacks confidence in his ability to throw the checkdown accurately when he's on the move

He will throw it, and throw it decently, when it's a designed short pass (we saw some in his first couple starts)

But by definition, a "checkdown" means either you've looked downfield, nothing there, checking down to your outlet

OR

Have read and understood from the D there will be nothing downfield in the time the D gives you, BOOM get it out now

Allen doesn't have enough experience/understanding to do the latter very often yet

The OL doesn't give him enough time to do the former - usually by the time he's looked downfield he needs to move

He can't throw the short stuff accurately on the run yet

So he just runs

To me it seems less about confidence on the short throw and more about inability to fully read coverages.  I'm sure it's something they work on with him all spring and summer, and I really hope it will come together as he gets more experience.   If it does, the rest of the league should be worried.

*****.    How the hell did I forget EJ.  Oh wait.  He was super easy to forget.  Ha.

He doesn't count.  As no one thought he was the answer from day one. :)

I appreciate this post. Losman struck me as a bit of a hothead and not the most likable fella. Both Manuels and Peterman strike me as good kids. They should both be applauded character wise and dismissed football wise. Heck, Manuels was a much better ball player than Peterman.

I think a little bit of that was a reaction to the popular "You guys are complete idiots for trading away Tyrod  Taylor, who just took you to the play-offs" line.

Not so much rooting against Taylor but more about proving that the Bills made the right move.

I guess we have to read these daily Allen worship posts for about 8 more months.

Personally, I'm hoping we read these daily Allen worship posts for about 15 years.

If you REALLY enjoy rooting for a team that has churn at the QB position, there's an opening for you in Jacksonville.  That hot mess ought to go on for years.  You'll be at home there.
