If this season really is just about developing Allen and giving the rookies a chance to show their stuff, I kept thinking why we spent much of the last quarter playing boring football and protecting a lead.

Winning the game meant nothing as far as the season, and actually hurt us as far as the upcoming draft.

Our running game was toast since most of the Rbs were injured and off the field in the game.

Why would we not just work on the passing game and getting the young WRs a chance to show their stuff and build future chemistry with Allen in a real game environment?

If the rest of the season is essentially an early start of an extended preseason,

why not treat it as such?

Work on the passing game instead of playing boring, overly conservative, protect the lead football. Losing was actually better for the future of the team than winning anyway. Sure, truly try to win, but put it all on the line, gamble a little, have fun, make it exciting for the fans and try to win using a passing game that needs the most work on.

Buffalo Bills football baby....

McD is convinced that 14-13 is the way of the NFL.  A perfect weather day Sunday and plenty of opportunity and they played their milk the clock, hope for a break or two, no mistake football.

Yes I too would like to see more offense and certainly there were opportunities.

Aren’t our young players getting a lot of time on the field?  These guys show a lot of pride on the field, doubt they want to roll over. I think we are doing a good job of giving young guys opportunities and still playing to win.

Dude, boring things are routine and important plays to evaluate in football. Not every situation is about going 80 yards on a pass. The line needs to block the run better. Curl routes are the cornerstone to any passing game when playing man coverage. Not exciting but it’s stuff you need to evaluate.

Also I’ve noticed McD can be a competitor to a fault sometimes. Explains several wonky decisions at the beginning of the year.

While it may be fun to watch, slinging the ball (sand lot football) is not how REAL nfl games are played. Josh Allen needs to learn GOOD habits so it is important to run plays like you would in meaningful games.

A developing rookie can develop BAD habits just as well as Good habits.

What changed? They played that way the whole game. They didn’t play to protect a lead. Passing gave us a better opportunity.

It was boring from beginning to end.

Im sure they were “trying to do some things.”

This is so circular.

You want the team to treat it like a preseason game so guys can get game experience, but then you get mad that they treated it like a game they were trying to win?

Close games are important too.  The pressure that comes with playing a tight game cannot be recreated in practice.  In fact, its the only situation that can't be recreated.

He put the game in Allens hands and we won. A lot of other coaches call three straight runs and punt at the end.

We have an opportunity to really see what we have sitting on the bench. Offensive line positions mainly, and which reciever can, or more importantly CAN NOT play.

This is the best time to evaluate and prepare for the draft...

Since the playoffs are no longer the focus, winning is secondary.

But, we are also seeing the heart that Allen possesses..

WOW,
