Big Turk Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Ive always wondered about coaches and their fits with the teams they are on....Gregg Williams seems to be a perfect fit for the Browns...a young brash team led by a young brash QB that is aggressive in all phases of the game... Do you think its possible that some coaches would have a lot or success with some teams and not much with others based on the team disposition? Or maybe Williams has learned from previous mistakes... Either way he is doing a very nice job in Cleveland right now... 2
Lenigmusx Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 He gets an interview with the victory yesterday...
BarleyNY Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Just now, Lenigmusx said: He gets an interview with the victory yesterday... Yeah. He has to but I don’t think he gets the job. 1

Boca BIlls Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Nope beating a bad team doesnt make you anything.
Rc2catch Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 I don’t personally like him or think he’s a good leader of men.. Hes a above average defensive coordinator, but the browns are so young I don’t know he’s the guy I want molding my rookies into the future 1

Of course, if we're talkin' a-hole, Rex and Rob are available too ... hey, and maybe Doug Marrone as well. Edited December 16, 2018 by The Frankish Reich 1
LSHMEAB Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 If Baker is the real deal, Gregg could be passable. Great quarterbacks tend to make average coaches look better than they otherwise would. 1
Les Vegetables Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 The Browns success right now has more to do with Hue Jackson sucking as a head coach vs Sergeant Gregg being a good coach.
Steptide Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 I actually thought he was an idiot for going for it on 4th and 1 last night only up by 1 point. You take the field goal in that situation. They would've been up by 4 and Denver would need a td to win. Instead Denver stops them on 4th and 1 and get the ball back. All they need is a fg to win the game. Fortunately it worked out for the Browns, but had Denver won with a fg, he'd be getting killed today for that 4th down 1
dezertbill Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Williams would have to sweep the rest of the season to be considered. The Browns have made so many bad hires, they can't risk screwing this up. Dorsey has an opportunity to hire the next "great" coach. Just going with a retread isn't exactly what one looks to do in this situation. His performance has to be overwhelming. A 6-2 finish after a 2-5-1 start will be enough. Not sure 5-3 does.
JerseyBills Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Lets not go overboard here. They beat a below average Bronco team but i agree he has done a solid job since taking over.

Gregg on a 2 year contract (with an easy out after 1 if it doesn't work out), with the team probably likely peaking talent and experience-wise in 2020-22? That would be an attractive situation for any sought after coach. Gregg takes the hit if they don't make a leap forward next year, then the new guy gets all the credit if they do in the next couple years.
Cash Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 No. Everyone’s excited because the old incompetent boss is gone. Eventually the new incompetent boss will mess things up.
Phil The Thrill Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Big part of his success is the offense. I credit that to Baker and Freddie Kitchens more than Williams. Still, numbers don’t lie and you can’t discredit the work he’s done this year
OldTimeAFLGuy Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 ...why is this scurrilous garbage still relevant?....there's a reason why his double wide is still parked in the stadium lot.......
QuoteTheRaven83 Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Since taking over, they've been one of the best and hottest teams in the league. Technically they're still in the playoff hunt so they'd be stupid to let him go.
