LSHMEAB Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 There's no need to bash Tyrod for this. I see it time and time again week after week from vet QB's to rookies. There are obviously far fewer opportunities than in the past because they blow most of them dead. Nice to see that JA has that alterness about himself.

It’s not something that anyone refers to as the Aaron Rodgers special. Hence why I said it. So pull up your pants and act like a human. Since 2007, Rodgers has twelve touchdowns on free plays, no one else has more than 4. It is not nearly as common place as you make it out to be and requires poise and situational awareness that many QBs don’t have. Be happy our guy showed a bit of that 1

cgg716 Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 However statistics bear that to be false, with Aaron Rodgers significantly better at causing and then utilizing those plays.. it is not at all common, many QB stop to avoid a potential hit and take the flag 1

Or did he just do something QB’s always do? Cause if he threw a TD, then we can call it an Aaron Rodgers special. Just to make you happy. Seeing as that’s the only stat that you’ve seen to bring up. But he didn’t. Edited December 15, 2018 by Jay_Fixit

Be happy our guy showed a bit of that Really appreciate the stats..I was second guessing myself for a minute, because i didn't think it was as common as some people are saying , just from watching a fair amount of games a year I don't see QBs take advantage of a free play and go deep like Allen did and see Rodgers consistently do it. I'm not in no way comparing the two, as i stated , Rodgers was the first guy i thought of when he made the throw and these stats pretty much confirm what my eyes have seen. Regardless of what anyone says, it was very impressive and encouraging to ME .

Correct, it’s the stat that was easiest to find, and it’s reliable because nobody throws curl routes on a free play. It’s a 3 outcome play, TD, incomplete or DPI. I watch a lot of games and it just plain doesn’t happen often, it’s not an easy stat to research however. Also and nobody has mentioned this yet, most free play opportunities are brought about by changing cadence by the QB, an intelligent play. You’re out here lumping every QB together as if there is no skill involved

Because it is.

And I guess we are watching different games because I don't see QB go deep like that as often as you are making it out to be. I'm not saying QBs don't do it, but I'm saying it's in no way a play that every qb makes on a consistent basis. Again, our previous veteran starter of 3 years never made that type of throw, literally. It sounds like you have a biased against Allen. All we are saying is that it was great situational awareness by our rookie qb , and you seem to not like the fact we are showing him some love for this. 2 minutes ago, Jay_Fixit said: I’m only lumping QB’s together because it’s practiced and common place for a QB to look deep when a flag is thrown on a free play. cage Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 I like Tyrod, but he would have taken a sack on that play to be safe knowing he had the 5 yards coming 1
