You can be trans and have mental problems, but there are plenty of people that are trans and don’t have mental problems

As far as the teenagers cutting their body parts, parental supervision needs to be a big playing this, although I’m sure if you looked at the statistics, children are not the ones that are getting this procedure

I was on YouTube the other day and I saw a video by the epic times where they were trying to make this scenario of a parent suggesting a child might feel better if they were a different gender. This does not happen. This is the type of ***** that the right puts out for fear mongering.

how do you know you can be trans and not have mental problems? They have no idea what the cause of being trans is.  Do not pretend to know what the cause is.

Noted right wing media entity NPR disagrees. Maybe it stopped happening in 2015 when this was published.

It doesn’t happen except for when it happens.

I didn’t go through all of them because I don’t have the time to read everything tonight. Could you please point out where the child had a sex change surgery in theinsider.com I don’t see it

What I mean to say here is that being trans does not mean that you have a mental problem

You can be trans and have mental issues in addition to that

But being trans in itself, does not constitute a mental problem

Your prior comment, which you cannot back up, was:

Now the argument is “show me the sex change surgery”. Weak.

I was responding to the other poster, who was talking about kids having surgical procedures

But let’s take the scenario that you put forward. The little kid came to them. It was not the parents trying to convince the little kid. As I specified in the YouTube video, I saw on the epic times they were trying to make it like the parents were trying to convince their kids that they were something not the other way around

Keep up or stay the ***** out of the conversation

Trans was considered a mental illness until a few years ago. They only changed it because of the stigma of mental illness. They didn’t change it because of any scientific evidence. Again, they have no idea what causes it. It very well could be a mental illness. Which is ok btw cause lots of people have issues. Many people de transition so I’d argue that it is something in their brain.
again, you are claiming moral superiority but you still have no idea what causes it. Everyone is guessing. You are no more right than I am.

So you control the conversation now? Telling someone to shut the ***** up is normal to you? For someone who works in a university, you sure don't like to hear differing opinions. That was a piss poor comment you made. This is a message board.

Not to be Mr Obvious but it’s clearly something in their brain. I don’t know of anyone who says otherwise. That isn’t the debate however. The debate is at what age should we allow people to get  lifelong surgeries related to their perceived sexuality. The answer is obvious to me: Only after they’ve reached adulthood. Period!

well he was claiming that being trans wasn’t a mental health issue. But then he said some might have it and some might not. But somehow he still claims a moral high ground. He works at an institution of higher learning which tells you all you need to know of the quality of education in this country.

To be fair…he works in the Admissions office. He’s not the Head of the Psychology Department. I have absolutely no idea why we can’t all agree to let these issues lie until children reach adulthood. That is of course unless there’s actually another agenda being pushed here.

true. It’s all virtue signaling. They just want to seem like they’re better than us despite knowing nothing of the subject.
