Setting aside all the horseshit regarding promises and backtracking by both sides, let's identify what is important and what needs to be done.

 

Is a barrier effective in securing our border? If so, where does it need to go? Do we need other border security measures? Is it the Presidents responsibility to do everything he can to secure the border?

 

Do we have a child sex slavery crisis at our border? Do we have drug smuggling happening at our border? Do we have people trying to sneak across our border and blend into our country, whether its in a sanctuary city/state or not? Are some terrorists/criminals slipping in?

 

When the above questions get answered then we can focus on what needs to be done rather than stick to silly positions. If we can agree that for the good of the country we need some barriers, then does it really matter that Trump claimed that Mexico would pay for the wall? If Mexico were to pay for the wall would it then be a moral wall? Why does it matter to Trump's opposition that the wall was a campaign promise? Either we need it or not. The discussion needs to be centered on the need for the wall rather than petty political positions to hurt Trump.

I disagree.  People eat this stuff up.  Maybe not you or me in the end... But when in Rome do as the Romans.  A guy like Trump feasts on the non-resistant.

 

In the end, it's the hearts and minds of good people that come to realization that they were manipulated by a con-man, carnival barker... When they realize they are flawed, broken... That's when things will change.

 

You have to parody a guy like Trump... People see their moral mistake.

I employ some folks making far less than you'd imagine. I don't take well to the plight of ignorance and idiocy. 

 

You can always save money. These folks B word about it but have a new iPhone, new leased car, waste it on fast food daily... People are stupid.

I'm loving this.  People telling other people how to handle their money.  Assuming if people are living paycheck to paycheck it's because they're blowing there money on luxuries. 

 

Maybe they have a person in their family with a chronic illness that sucks up a lot of ca$h.  Maybe they are paying back student loans.  Maybe they do save but it's in their 401K which they can't take it out without a huge penalty.  You have no idea.

 

Judging people whose paycheck has been ended due to no fault of their own and then giving them advice from afar not knowing their circumstances is a pompous arrogant attitude IMHO.

Nice.  I am not the Snowflake.  You are.  I don't complain for these people living pay check to paycheck.

 

Just default.  Mass default.  Protect your residence, transportation... Etc....and crash the economy.

I posted the website of Dave Ramsey, a radio host that teaches people how to get out of debt and save money. It's basically sacrifice early on in life so that you aren't a slave to debt and interest.

I understand.  It's not just you.  I see this attitude coming from a lot of places.

 

I also think part of this I can't afford to buy food and I'm going to lose my house after missing the first check is somewhat exaggerated by some people.

Defaulting on non-essentials, working with creditors, mortgage companies is not a crime.

 

Maybe file bankruptcy.

 

Wait till till the health insurance companies want their premiums...  This will get good.

 

Then if Feds get back to work... They owe 40% of those premiums.

 

I wouldn't authorize back pay, what a cluster eff health will be.

 

When I was Seasonal, I was rountinely furloughed, my health carried through.  And it took me twice as long as the furlough to catch my health premiums back up.

 

This shutdown is only just starting to get good.

 

Yes... I sympathize with the employees... But many mechanisms to get through it, even if living paycheck to paycheck.

It's not a difficult concept: don't buy what you don't need.  Spend less than you earn.  With the rest, save, then invest.

 

And credit is not cash.  It's debt against future earnings - which is useful tool, but an awful lifestyle.

Pelosi IMO has nothing to lose by holding out.  The media will have her back.  Her House members are mostly in lock step with her or are afraid of her.  She and much of the Dem base don't want border security or don't care. Mexico hasn't yet offered to pay for the wall, and Nancy is Harry Reid nasty and stubborn. 

 

As time goes on Government workers not getting paid will make an increasing amount of noise and the media will run wild with that.  All of the pressure is on Trump and will continue to be IMO.  Trump has done a mostly lousy job of presenting the issue of border security to Americans and an even lousier job of exposing his opposition's true position of wanting open borders.

This is a common problem. I was getting tires for my Corolla and the guy putting on the tires--earns less than me, I assume--was saying how lucky I was because his pick up truck costs twice as much to get tires. And I said, ya, and every time you fill up at the pump too!
