You have to do it for your defense. (imo)

What does that mean? You have to do a stupid challenge when the replay is clear -- to prove something to your defense? This makes no sense, yet I think you are actually right...

Where was the ball when whistle was blown

That's really the key right?

He had forward progress out to about 1 foot past goal line.

I can't see this being ruled a safety.

I thought Tanny's butt cheek hit the ground before he stretched that ball out. In the first half I don't mind this kind of challenge.

This crew has already shafted us several times and its the 1st quarter. There is now way that they will reverse the decision and give us a safety

I don't know about several, but on the roughing the passer, I don't think either penalty was legit.  The illegal contact was bogus as well.

Has McDermott ever made a smart challenge? I'm not being a smartass. I'm genuinely curious if he has a 100% failure rate at challenging calls.

Edit: 0/6 this season and 1/10 in his career according to the commentators. That is truly awful. Like incredibly embarrassing. This isn't rocket science. That doesn't even include calls he should have challenged and didn't.
