Sams aren't on the field much of the time and so investing big dollars there doesn't get this team much closer to 10+ wins.  With the league dominated by passing, teams are more likely to have 2 LBs on the field, and in the 40 front that's the Will and Mike. Buffalo seems to have those 2 in Milano and Edmunds.

No one knows who the UFAs will be when the new league year opens in March 2019.  But if they're using big money on any UFA defender, it's the wrong answer to their issues.

Don't we mainly run a nickel defense?  Milano Edmunds Johnson is basically the starting lineup.  If we didn't have Milano I would be interested but considering where the NFL is now, aren't we better off with those 3 as the starters over Milano Edmunds and Barr.  It would seem to me that Barr would take Johnson off the field and make the defense worse overall.  Plus you are going to have to pay Milano in a couple years and Edmunds down the line.  Based on the cost and where the game is today, I think we are far better off with what we have now.  Try to add some cheaper depth at linebacker and pay to bring in offense is where I think we should go.

Alexander is on the field for only about 54% of the plays. If he comes at a reasonable price, sure. But I'm not willing to sign a player for a large amount of money if there isn't an every down role for that player.

I want Lorax + Anthony Barr. In addition to, not one or the other. Having more than one bruiser is a good idea against teams like Jacksonville, teams who rely heavily on the run.

It’s just a waste of resources in today’s day and age imo. We have two very young and promising LBs.  That’s what you need in today’s nfl.  Our 3rd LB has been very productive and is a locker room/culture perfect fit.  I’d rather him play than overpay for a luxury.  Too many holes on O to sign a 3rd LB that will probably be the 3rd highest paid player on the team.  Pass

Would love to see McBean go after Anthony Barr next year in Free Agency. Start him at SLB and move Lorenzo to DE. We have over $90 million to spend next year.

Can you imagine Anthony Barr Next to Tremaine Edmunds?

Tremaine Edmunds - 6’5 250

Anthony Barr - 6’5 255

Concentrate on offense and CB in the draft.

I think he could do well in the hybrid role Zo plays.

If we're going to put down a lot of money on one defensive player, I would much prefer it to be a pass rusher.  You can never have too many of those.

Fix the offense first....make that $12 million dollars invested now go up by 3 times at least.

Pete...that's not so bad.

I love Zo and he keeps himself in great shape.  Cut his reps and just letting him go after the QB seems doable.

How about fixing the entire offense?

I agree but have a look at next years Free Agent list. Not many great WR or OL available. Its pretty week year for Offensive players in free agency. I think they will use the High Draft picks on offensive players and try and help the defense at DE, LB and CB in free agency.

Plz keep Lorax. I want him to retire as a bill.

For sure keep Lorenzo, just move him to DE and let him abuse some QBs

He's the top UFA on my list for the Bills, as while it's hard not to love LorAx the truth is I don't know how much gas he has in the tank.

He had a horrible game against the Bills. But he is still one of the top LBs in the league and perfect fit for our 4-3 scheme in a position of need. I really hope it happens.

He might fill a Lorax role in a 4-3 but wouldn't spend enough time on the field to justify his contract though. We run Nickel packages most of the time with two true LBs and Lorax filling the rush LB role along the line. I like Barr but the fit and role he would fill in this defense doesn't necessarily align with what we'd likely have to pay him. Especially when it comes time to extend Tre, Edmunds, and Milano.

I am tempted though, as Lorax won't be around much longer, but I feel his position replacement is more cheaply and efficiently addressed through this draft, even future drafts if Lorax sticks around another year or two. Given Barr's development thus far, it's more likely a good draft pick yields more upside for the contract if addressed properly.
