WhoTom Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 I heard he once punted one into the crowd. Everyone talks about the time the Schmidt hit the fan. 1

All he is saying is he resigned a guy and then that guy wasn't good enough. That says more about the GM than the punter. Nope - it says with the injury - go get the guy you are familiar with and you know can handle it, but continue to look to get better. This happens all the time to replacement level guys ask CJ Spiller a couple of years ago - he was signed and cut in KC like 8 times in one season, but they seem ok. The response says more about you than the signing says about the GM. He is trying to improve the roster.
sullim4 Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 I really don't understand this. He had a few bad punts, but he also had a few good ones, and he is a competent holder for Hauschka. The Bills could do better, but they could also do a lot worse, and I don't know that making a change in week 13 makes any sense. Buffalo isn't exactly friendly to punters in November and December. I'd rather they focus their energy on improving the return coverage units as opposed to the specialist.
Greatdane21 Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Schmidt is inconsistent, punts are low hang time not good either one of the two guys on IR would have won the job out of camp.
Another Fan Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 The Bills seem to have a habit of cutting kickers in the middle of the year out of nowhere. I remember years back Moorman got cut like that. Dallas picked him up but I think he did venture back here to Buffalo. The Schmidt doesn’t really make sense imo

Even in camp local media were reporting some worrying things about his punting.
The_Dude Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 They just love f’ing with Colton. Poor Colton.

Those are not great stats, but changing a punter now is ridiculous. This accomplishes what exactly? If this is about some Edge to get on the Dolphins this weekend that is pretty pathetic. Guys are going to begin wondering if this GM and Coach have any idea what they are doing. Maybe they think he’s a better punter? DARRRRRRRR
1st Ammendment NoMas Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Schmidt had no hang time, and was giving up longer returns. They were not happy with him.
HalftimeAdjustment Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Nothing fires up the fan base like a new punter. 1
Bookie Man Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Didn't he have two punts inside the 5 yard line Sunday?
DC Grid Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 I assume Colton banged Beane’s wife. Otherwise his constant desire to replace a dependable known quality punter with random ones doesn’t make any sense.

BuffaloBillies Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 I guess every potential yard matters, but seems like a Saber metrics move to me. Is it really worth it? Not really considering the next guy could be a dud.
