Bills D has allowed 160 yards or fewer passing in 6 of the last 7 games...that's remarkable considering how much of a passing league it has become.

Bills pass defense rankings:

  • Yards per attempt: 2nd(6.4)
  • Total Yards allowed: 1st(2131)
  • Yards per game: 1st(193.7) --> Only team averaging under 200 yards per game allowed
  • Touchdowns passes allowed: T-3rd(15)
  • 1st down Percentage: T-4th(33.1)
  • Longest pass play against: 1st(43 yards)
  • 20+ Yard passes against: T-1st(27)
  • 40+ Yard passes against: 1st(1)
  • QB Rating against: 4th(84.2)

And before someone claims its because teams simply run the ball all the time against us this is not the case.  Bills still are averaging a very respectable 4.2 YPA against the run even after today.  A few games have hurt us(this one and the Indy game mainly) in this category, but most of the year the D against the run has been pretty solid. Teams are averaging 26.5 runs a game versus 32.5 passes a game against us.  Bills D has also made a large surge in 3rd down percentage.  After being near the bottom of the league for much of the first part of the season, they are now 13th overall at 38 percent, within 2 percent of being in the top 5(Pittsburgh at 36% is 5th).

D still ranked 2nd at 305.0 YPG and is pretty much top 10 in most metrics, with it being top 5 in quite a few as well.  We see a game and think the D played "terrible" but at the end we look and the other team barely gets 300 yards of offense...
