26CornerBlitz Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — With little money to spend and few impact players interested in signing with the Bills given the uncertainty at quarterback this past offseason, general manager Brandon Beane understood Buffalo’s offense was going to struggle. Little did he realize how much. “There’s nobody that goes into a season and looks for either side of the ball to have a down year and to be statistically where our offense is,” Beane told The Associated Press during a wide-ranging interview before Buffalo entered its bye week. He then recalled something former coach John Fox once said when the two worked together in Carolina. “There’s nobody going to rescue you in-season,” said Beane, in his second year in Buffalo. “You’ve got to dig out of it yourself. And all you can do is put your head down and keep working.” Much of the heavy lifting will have to wait for the offseason when Buffalo is projected to be more than $90 million under the NFL’s salary cap, plus a current stockpile of 10 draft picks. 6

Soda Popinski Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 It's easy to stick to the plan right now, when you can't sign any FAs or make any trades, what else is he supposed to say? But he and everyone else in that organization know they can't screw around this offseason with that FA money and those draft picks. They have to put a good offense out there this next season or someone's getting fired. 3

kota Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Pretty sure that if you draft a QB at 7 you are rebuilding. Just saying... Why is this a surprise for anyone? 2 2

Its not even remotely as bad as the threads plaguing this site right now. I mean one dude in a thread today said NP was not good, too weak of an arm, and barely a backup...then also starts a thread saying racism is why he is getting back lash and says he can be good and used Alex Smith as an example of how he should become a good player somewhere else like other Bills castoffs. Its just nonsense over and over on this board, at least this thread is a real story and deals with real comments. 10 4

I don't think the actual thread was nearly as annoying as when I clicked into it and somebody was all butt hurt then insisted on just posting a page worth of links to other threads. 1 3

Why is this a surprise for anyone? EXACTLY! And they traded up a second time to get Edmunds. How anyone saw this year as anything other than a rebuilding year and an expected down year for the offense is beyond me. NOTHING they did was about THIS year. I mean in a year and a half of being here, Beane fixed the cap situation, built a stout defense, and got the QB of the future. In his first draft, he landed TWO first rounders that he traded up for both of WITHOUT giving up any future first rounders or even any future picks. They also landed Taron (who opposing QB's are struggling throwing on with a measly 76 QB rating against Taron) and Phillips, both promising young prospects. And Wyatt sure seems promising too...all in ONE draft where we traded TWICE up in the first round. I mean people need to chill the F out, this team is on a great path for the first time in a long time. How successful that path will be is going to be tied to how Allen develops and how they utilize this offseason to elevate the offense. But given how great they did clearing out the cap and fixing the D, I think they its more than reasonable to give them the benefit of the doubt. Edited November 15, 2018 by Alphadawg7 15 8

I read your post and I read the article, but I don't believe it. I know that McClappy promised the Pegula's that they would win the Super Bowl THIS year - I bet they're pissed! ? Seriously though, not sure why people are having a hard time comprehending this season. It is what they they said it was... 3 3

This is a legit article about Beane discussing the plan, so it’s akin to to comments under the article. Good thread, IMO. “Someone needs to be fired if someone does or doesn’t do something right now, aarrgghh” - that’s a bad thread. Just my my humble opinion. 4 1 4
