Yes for the remainder of the season.  I do believe that Anderson is a good mentor for Allen.

I would revisit the situation in the off season and see if the we have an opportunity to strengthen our backup qbs then.

No doubt for the rest of this season, but I meant in '19.  Allen credits both for helping him improve.

I'd wonder if Anderson would even want to come back next year after the beating he took this one.

....Anderson is probably a good mentor...at the same time, what the hell do we need Culley for?.....25 yrs experience principally as a WR Coach and we have guys that don't know how to run routes?....is this guy a hat rack?.................

I am still all about the development of Allen.  I am really optimistic about his potential.  I would be ok if they left the situation the way it is now.  The only concern I have is if Barkley can be effective against a decent team or if he was taking advantage of an atrocious Jets team.

I am not saying I want Barkley to start over Allen, but I do have that concern.

I responded, but It did not load as a quote.

I agree with you completely.  I would live to see a proven QB coach with has been effective in developing young QBs.  I never understood this hire.

I would keep Barkley in '19 and swap out Anderson for a slightly youger whoever-is-available for cheap.

That may be an option, but do you not believe an experienced backup is valuable as a mentor for another year?

Anderson is just too old. I want a vet, but like I said 'slightly' younger. Someone who could survive a couple games if neccesary. If DA in the QB room is that important, make him a coach but father time takes his toll- whether you can afford to pay it or not.

Yeah, I would not want to see him in a gain again.  You may be right.

Do you have someone in mind?

I don't.

Just somebody who has played some games and been on some rosters and has a strong grip to hold the ***** out of that clipboard.

The Bills do need a backup QB.  Anderson has a better track record, more experience, and a better arm.  Will be interesting to see how it shakes out in '19 with mentoring Allen as one of the factors to be considered.

I hear ya. Im not so sure Anderson wants to come back anyways, we pretty much had to drag him out of retirement. The Bills may go a different route all together and find a qb in FA. Time will tell for sure.

....how is it that Barkley comes outta the mothballs, has a decent game and instantly should be signed to a contract as our backup?........he's traveled as much in the last six years as the NBA's Larry Brown.....why the Epiphany now??.......

I just Googled the free agent qbs in 2019.  The top four listed are Matt Ryan, Tyrod Taylor, Teddy Bridgewater, and Nick Foles.  I don't believe any of them would fit the mold you are looking for.  We may have to find a lower priced retread that has something left in the tank.

Matt Ryan signed a huge contract to stay with the Falcons at the beginning of the year. Imagine, Google stated a falsehood ?
