You mean to say we may see 30 completions for a 100 yards tomorrow?  I cant wait to watch the check down fest

Barkley throws the ball down the field with a noodle arm.

The result has been 8 career TDs to 18 picks and 7 fumbles in 266 pass attempts.

He's a terrible QB.

Unless Barkley is worse, which would take an awful lot

Cant really get worse than what Peterman has shown.

Such is life when the starter is out.  My daughter just texted me that we wouldn't have gone through this if we had kept McCarron.  I said back it wouldn't matter; may have made the losses closer.

I'm gonna disagree with this a little bit.

You may be right about the score part.

However I thought the point of dumping vets was to start building the dynasty.  Play young players to develop.  Guys like Za y and Croom and the young Oline guys.  How are we supposed to do that with inaccurate turn over machines at QB?

Barkley has the same MO.  At least AJ has had some success effectively running an NFL offense.

Fair enough.

Everyone knew the Jets were picking a QB and had Josh McCown and they were still able to get Teddy Bridgewater.

I think a strong argument can be made that the Bills have mismanaged their QBs this year more than any team in 20 years.

No team I can ever remember has starter two QBs who they signed only 1-2 weeks prior to them playing.

Right, McDermott traded McCarron, he injured Allen, he concussed Anderson, he made certain the offensive line was incapable of protecting any quarterback, he fixed the elections, .......

Anderson had 6 turnovers, a pick six, and no Touchdowns in two starts against two of worst defenses in the NFL. Not sure Peterman or Anderson are the problem.

One could also say Barkley filled in OK with the Bears.

Ultimately it's Allen that matters.

He was a 4th round pick because he's got a noodle arm.

I hope they lose on a last second field goal.

Winning does nothing to help this team long term.

That’s not why he was a 4th round pick. If he came out in 2012 he would have been a top 10 pick. He went back had a tough season and then got hurt. That’s why he went in the 4th. Nobody was complaining about him when he was throwing for 39 tds and 7 picks in his jr year. I’m not saying he’s going to be good but let’s hive him a shot. He doesn’t have an arm like Allen but he can play in the league unlike Peterman

He can't play in the league or he wouldnt be here. And who cares about his college stats. Peterman even had great college stats.  Barkley threw for 125 yards and had three turnovers and no touchdowns in his last NFL start. Only reason he is playing is because his last name isn't Peterman.

isn't context important when citing single game stats. i have no dog in the fight , but that tough to hang your hat on about Barkley. and his college career may no longer be relevant , but one game stats when he had to start ? not sure i would measure him by that

If they honestly believe this is the best choice to start and not because of fan/media pressure against Peterman, then Peterman should be cut.

Either way, this is pathetic

Barkley playing poorly does nothing to derail an already dead season. Nothing can be worse then what it already has been.

Now if he somehow makes the most of this opportunity and plays well, we might accidentally find a long term back up. We may also get to evaluate a few WRs, get a win going into a bye and maybe let Allen come back at his own pace. Nothing to lose, a lot to gain.

if we recall McD's running commentary about Nathan up until Anderson joined the team , and now Barkley being brought in to start?
He talked very highly of his skills in practice and such.

this move says to me,

OOPS !  just kidding !!

Barkley was pedestrian at best for the Bears IMHO. But ok.

As to your other point yes and no.  While it is important to develop Allen, there are also 10 other guys out there that need to be really good and do their job to win that need to be developed too was my point.

If Alen is injured and can't play, we don't have to put everyone else's development on hold til he gets back.

The NFL is full of cases where a team with a really good qb has not had regular sucess. Like the Chargers regularly missing  the playoffs with Rivers under center.  QB is THE most important position, but far from the ONLY position that matters.

Me too. I would rather have kept Humber and released Stanford
