Don't forget he's divorced too! TWICE!!! Simply scandalous!

?

i said nothing bout that..ever! As said, i don't have a problem with him having sex with anyone, as long as it was consensual.I also don't think everyone who has strayed is an immoral cretin, i think we all make mistakes in this life. But I don't think the Evangelicals think that way and that was my point

Isn't there something in the new testament about forgiveness?

Note: I cannot speak for evangelicals in any way. I am not religious or even spiritual, I'd go so far as to label my "beliefs" agnostic.

Trump press pool in the Oval right now re Apollo anniversary turned to questions about the rally chant -- I wish I had a pic right now, because the way Melania is standing/looking is interesting. She looks pissed and is standing with a clenched fist -- until she started talking, then all smiles.

(she hates the media)

I am waiting for the day when Melania refuses to put up with it anymore and loses her *****. I am going to learn lots of new foreign curse words.

sorry did not see this, and you are  correct that was an over generalization. What I meant there was i am continually astounded at the support Trump has from Evangelicals and those who preach family values, and yet endorse a guy who was displayed anything but family values.

And just to clear, i see nothing wrong with Trump banging a porn star or bedding as many women as he has( as long as none were sexual assault)..my only problem is he was married while doing it. And lord knows i am not saying politicians, or for that matter, anyone , outside of Trump do not stray..just that i am surprised the far right family values crowd continue to have his back.

Understood.  I think that part of it is that Evangelicals and those who are religious are not endorsing him for his family values...many see the stances of the party and side with that (whether its abortion, same sex marriage, etc).  The days of Jimmy Stewart are non existent in politics for as long as I've been alive.  And like you say, politicians in general are not generally good role models for marriages, so the religious look to other areas to gravitate to.

This was discussed a lot during the primaries & the general election, and the answer always came back to Trump being a vessel of frustration for the deplorables.

Too lazy to search the election threads right now.

This specific topic was discussed a lot - about how do the evangelicals accept Trump, given his sordid personal life?  The answer always was that they were perfectly willing to overlook the peccadilloes, because he was set to deliver far bigger victories for them.

They were right.

Denying another Presidency to the Clinton dynasty or some other empty suit was a win in and of itself to a lot of folks.

Is this very discussion not proof? Some really smart people here have said this whole tweet thing was politically motivated. If so, Trump views iy as advantage to the nation to be totally divided on its meaning/message.

Interesting.  You failed to address the racial divide here that I was looking for more clarification on.

 Of ahite sure what you mean. I think Trump feels an “us” ( white European Conservatives who feel marginalized ) vs “ them”

( folks of color and immigrants) is a good political strategy for him.

I would argue it's more of an Us First, not an Us vs. Them.

As an example, even the CA celebrities are pissed that the state wants to give free health care to illegal immigrants, but do nothing about all the homeless and drug issues. Do you know how hard it it to make Cher mad at Democrats?

This is not complicated if you’d simply pay attention, instead of immediately jumping to the CNN talking points. Trump suggested that SHE should CHOOSE to go back home if she doesn’t like it her. The crowd said THEY should SEND her back. There’s a huge difference. Or don’t you believe in a ‘woman’s right to choose’? ?

Actually he said that they came from other countries. Not just her.

Then he told them them to go back home.

His wife and kid already took him to the woodshed. That statement is as much as you can expect. We will see what happens at future rallies.  I expect I could predict what he will say word for word.

“You know *they* don’t like it when you do that chant. They are very mean to me But we have to be nice to them...”

You do not get lumped in as a liberal.  You're firmly in the camp of a hot takes poster who now adds very little value to the discourse.

I’m no different than I ever was. When there is discourse I engage.

When there is conspiracy nonsense, I mock it endlessly. It’s just the norm here now so I do it more.

The new trend of just pasting tweets here is the pinnacle of lazy “dialog.” I generally don’t engage.

And if you’re lucky, I try to make things nicer here and add a poem once in a while.

Would that include you walking back your Trump Russia thesis?  I don't recall a single "Oops, my bad" post from you since you started that thread.

That would include him having a drop of intellectual honesty or courage.

Based on the frequency he runs and swaps out screen names it doesn't take long to conclude he's lacking in both areas.

The Second Coming

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while...
