The Process Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Does anyone know the rules behind radios in QB helmets? In specific....can the qb hear while the play is unfolding?

The Process Posted November 8, 2018 Author Posted November 8, 2018 (edited) Thanks! During a 5 second play with all the commotion conversation would be useless. However, if you* could hack the frequency and yell out a simple receiver number 1,2 or 3.....it would be plausible to inform the QB* to let it rip to the open receiver. I wouldn't be surprised if a team* has tried this. It would turn their QB into the GOAT!* Edited November 8, 2018 by The Process 3 1

Some say that is not the case in Foxborough. I'd virtually guarantee the equipment and related systems are not checked at games or enforced in any way...and I'd further guarantee that a 2nd year EE major at MIT could have the thing tweaked in 10 minutes so that communication at any time is possible without anyone tracing it. 1
Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Only contact with the coaching staff? No 97 Rock? No WDCX-FM? No Christmas songs on 102.5? No wonder it's sometimes called No Fun League. 1 2 1
ALF Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Nate would really appreciate Christmas songs in his headset ? 2

But it wasn’t just a matter of filming opposing team’s coaches — it was also how that information was allegedly passed to Brady. As the scandal broke, the NFL was investigating a possible violation into the number of radio frequencies the Patriots were using during the Jets game, sources told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, who reported at the time that the Pats did not “have a satisfactory explanation when asked about possible irregularities in its communication setup during the game.” Offensive plays would be called based on stolen signals and the information relayed straight to Brady’s helmet, O’Leary theorizes. In this scenario, the extra frequency is critical, as it allows the team to do something in real time with the stolen signals, out of earshot of the NFL monitor, and change its plays accordingly. If there’s an open channel during the play itself, you can also alert the quarterback to open receivers he may not see. O’Leary repeats a rumor that Pats backup quarterback Doug Flutie once said he accidentally picked up Brady’s helmet during the 2005 season. “He was amazed that the coaches kept right on speaking to Brady past the 15-second cutoff, right up until the snap,” according to O’Leary. “The voice in Tom Brady’s helmet was explaining the exact defense he was about to face.” Edited November 8, 2018 by Tuco 1
Chris66 Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Nfl takes care of communications on both sides in all stadiums.

Cheektowaga Chad Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 This is why I'd like to see the bills run a hurry up at least at home. This is how a lot of college teams run the offense now. You don't snap the ball early but you're lined up ready to go Get lined up as quick as possible, have a coach help Allen/peterman initially read the defense.
