Everyone has a different idea of what "tank" means and in that sense, it's not really a useful term.

Expand Intentionally gutting the roster to lose as many games as possible to get a high overall pick. 1

But actually, I think they stripped it for the sake of stripping it, and had no idea how badly they overestimated their offensive talent evaluation skills. 2

You can't look at the roster spending or personnel moves and believe that Beane prioritized winning this year. He's obviously building for the future. But I think McD tries his hardest to win every game. 1
