Mark VI Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=nfl&id=2019982 Stokes, who was signed in March 2004 to a five-year, $4.5 million contract that included a $1.2 million signing bonus, missed the final three preseason games with what was termed a pulled muscle in his buttocks. ( Can't confirm whether he actually had surgery, as the press release stated above ) In making the IR roster move, the Giants said Stokes has a back problem. Didn't play in 2004. Today, he was cut. Started at Left Guard in 2002 for Cleveland, then was their starting LT in 2003. Age 31 6-4 310.
VABills Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 I remember him going on IR over the pull buttocks muscle, only because we have a huge midgets fan at works who was laughing about it. Is he any good, I could not say.
Astrobot Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 "Thanks for bringing his name up. I've never heard of him before, don't know who he's played for, what his stats are, or where he went to college. But, this is the offseason. He's a FA Offensive Lineman that's still on the market. TD SIGN THIS GUY OUR OUR SEASON IS RUINED!"

Now you must run to OBD with a pitchfork, chanting his name until TD relents and signs him.
IDBillzFan Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 One thing I can gladly admit: I'll never question our docs' diagnosis of an injured player after the way they diagnosed McGahee.
Astrobot Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 ...Because that tactice has worked so well so far!

In looking at his stats he did far better at LG then LT, as in 2002 he gave up 4.5 sacks in 16 starts compared to 7.5 in 13 starts in 13 games.
Bob in SC Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 No chance. We like versatile linemen and, with that chronic problem, center is out of the question. Have fun, guys!
