SinceThe70s Posted November 3, 2018 Posted November 3, 2018 After an Ottawa Redhawks TD, an offensive lineman ran to the stands, grabbed a can of beer from a fan (I think it was his GF), chugged it and best of all crushed it on his helmet. ESPN had a better clip, but I found this one: http://larrybrownsports.com/football/cfl-player-jon-gott-chugs-beer-touchdown/471395
Marv's Neighbor Posted November 3, 2018 Posted November 3, 2018 Ottawa RedBlacks? Are they owned by Red Green?

Two franchises ago in Ottawa, it was the 'Rough Riders', and that caused no end of derision what with the Saskatchewan Roughriders also in the league. 1

Also believe it's an homage to the old lumberjacks who would wear red & black plaid jackets. Speaking of CFL, Hamilton will have a celebrity fan come out during their home playoff game. Apparently 'The Nature Boy' Rick Flair is a fan and posted a video online saying he will be there on the field for the game.

Was just gonna mention that. Wasn't 1/4 of The CFL named: Rough Riders? ?

The RedBlacks have taken legal steps to protect use of the 'Rough Rider' name subject to the current football team's approval. Edited November 3, 2018 by Ridgewaycynic2013 1

Never mind the 'wannabe' cowpokes in both the East and West Divisions. I'm waiting for an overzealous group to protest the name of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. 1
row_33 Posted November 3, 2018 Posted November 3, 2018 (edited) Ottawa dropped out for awhile and returned with the new name Renegades, it’s the third recent incarnation of the franchise so maybe the RR name wasn’t available? Edited November 3, 2018 by row_33

Adding that space immediately makes it no longer offensive, because now they are just a colored bird instead of a native American term! The Redskins should think about that too, then they are just a team named after people who stayed out in the sun too long.

Blackhawks were named after original owner's WWI division (I think division): Blacks Hawks, Army I think? This is just off the top of head, memory. But I agree with your post.
stuvian Posted November 3, 2018 Posted November 3, 2018 That Red Blacks player was fined for having fun in a no fun zone aka Ottawa

'yup, um-mmmm, okay, exactly" is the only thing i can offer when they shut up after a 3 minute soliloquoy
