Why is everyone shocked or upset?  No teams 3rd string QB is any good.  I mean we have 2 guys hurt...were we supposed to have a 3rd QB that can play?

I mean who cares anyway, this season is a rebuilding year.  D looks good going into next year and should get better, especially once they make major moves on the offensive side of the ball this offseason between FA and the Draft.

He did start the season right. McD loves preseason to give him the starting job out of camp. So technically our 2018 starting QB is under center

The problem is more that the coaches and GM think he can play when he cannot. And it's been proven.

There are bigger and more substantive problems than who our backup qb is.such as the below mediocre caliber of our OL and receiver units. Those are the more critical issues that need to be addressed this offseason than who our backup qb is.

I will not shut up. I still consider him an acceptable NFL backup. Gunner and Kirby can harangue me all they want---- I will not yield! My prediction is that he will play respectably and the Bills will win. When that happens the haters are going to be disappointed. I will be ecstatic but being humble as I am I will not scold. :)

He is not terrible but he is just not in the right system. He is a 1990's tier backup.

true. But it does not mean that it is not a big issue. Backup QB is an important position for any serious team. Granted, there are not a lot of good ones. But Peterman is the only one in the entire league that does not belong in the league.

And now they are bringing in a (slightly better) carbon copy of him.

As I told Kelly the Dog there are bigger problems associated with our OL and receiving units than with our backup qb. Peterman was a fifth round pick for a reason. He was drafted in the lower part of the draft because he wasn't a scintillating talent. He is a backup at best. And for some peculiar reason that bothers a lot of people.

You can make the same arguments that some backups and third qbs don't belong in the league. The Bills bigger problem is that there are too many starters who fall in the category that they don't belong in the league.

With respect to the highlighted segment entering the season the Bills were not considered by almost all NFL analysts a seriously contending team. The backup qb on a rebuilding team is not one of the priorities that I am worried about.

I'm not denying we have bigger problems but I don't think that Peterman is anything a part of our future. Maybe I'll buy in this weekend. Maybe??‍♂️??‍♂️

Last I checked Anderson threw a pick 6 last night.

I was referring to the Houston game.  He threw a TD for both teams. Anderson only threw 1 to the other team.

I'm already slipping into "Charlie Brown" mode. Yes this time I will kick the football Lucy is holding and this time Nate Peterman will finally light it up in a regular season NFL game!! I know its absolute madness that is descending on me!!

A question  though? who will back up Peterman? Pryor? Who is on the practice squad as well. Peterman has already been concussed in one game last season. This is an absolutely insane situation for a professional sports franchise to put themselves in!!

When is Allen going to be ready? Is he already injury proned?

This is a disaster. I have zero hope for this team.

Horrible misjudgment by Beane.

I'd be shocked for any qb to not get hurt after getting sandwiched between clowney and watt.  Especially a direct hit to the arm.

It's not the same argument. What I meant by not belonging in the league meant they are not physically able to play at this level for any reasonable amount of time. They shouldnt be considered not because they may not reach their potential but it's almost physically impossible. If you cannot throw an out pattern in the NFL you cannot play in the NFL. That's what I meant. Before the  season last year and before the season this year, I said that Nate couldn't play, and ironically one of the three guys I compared him to, not being able to play is Matt Barkley (along with Kellen Moore and Colt McCoy, all of which are very smart and very accurate and have rag arms that prevent them from ever being good)

It is kinda funny how Peterman always seems to get stuck playing against a good defense.  Has he ever played a non top 10 one?

This is actually a good point.  He has faced a bit of a murderers row and doesn't have any weapons to utilize.  He's looked ok in limited minutes against mediocre-to-crap defenses (New Orleans, Indy, etc.).

Well he faced

Chargers #3 Pass defense in 2017

Colts #28 Pass defense in 2017 (Best Game)

Ravens #6 Pass defense 2018

Bears #9 Pass defense 2018
