Fadingpain Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Sam Darnold is starting to separate from the rest of his QB draft class. Tyler Dunne was just commenting on this recently, mentioning Darnold is showing like 5th year understanding already and has the QB experts drooling. Allen is a bust waiting to happen. 6 3
ProcessTruster Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Way too early to know anything. Hopefully Allen stays injured and watches a few more games. At least for the next one. 1

You’ve repeated your last sentence 89 times The hat trick of interceptions for Sam brings the separation back down a few inches. 9 minutes ago, Elite Poster said: So do the Colts think Darnold > Allen? H2o Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Darnold is a rookie QB just like Mayfield, Allen, and Rosen. There will be ups and downs for all of them. Darnold also has the 2nd most talent around him behind Mayfield. Allen and Rosen are working with next to nothing. 8 2
longtimebillsfan Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 (edited) I still think people on this board are to ready to call Allen a bust. He has so much talent. But is very raw in his experience. Once the games slows down for him and he can be surrounded by better talent on offense, he has a good chance to be the franchise quarterback we are hoping he will be. He’s looking like a rookie 1
Teddy KGB Posted October 22, 2018 Author Posted October 22, 2018 (edited) Why you drop a confused emoji on me CB ? Brrrrrrrrrr. It’s getting chilly ? https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2018/10/21/sam-darnold-sounds-cold-alarms-that-even-the-vikings-noticed/amp/ “It was fleeting. In the second and third quarters, Darnold was 2-for-14 for minus 1 yard. At a time when Gang Green held the fort, Darn Cold froze” Edited October 22, 2018 by Teddy KGB 1

That's the problem though..will the game ever slow down for him? In watching a lot of his progressions and throws it just seems he doesn't see the field and process what is going on. As a Bill's fan I hope I am utterly wrong; I just get these visions of Losman ver. 2.0. In three years it will be one of two outcomes 1) all us so called arm chair GMs/Coaches will be shown we don't know crap or 2) everyone will question the efficacy of using all that draft capital on a risky project QB. It really doesn't matter what any of us think at this point as the Pegulas need to let this play out over the next 3-4 years and hope that McBeane knew what he (they) were doing.

Allen sees the field well but he doesn't take chances or make good decisions. Is that who he is or is it because he played at Wyoming and is in his rookie year? It's hard to tell. He could progress into a really good QB, maybe best in this class or he could never move away from his mobile vision and remain who he is. It took Steve Young a while to get it. It might take 5 to 7 years but I think that is the ceiling Allen could reach, Young/McNair. Or he could be just better than Tyrod, somewhere close to Nick Foles. He's a tough read. 1

B-but Allen was terrible at Wyoming! I even heard Mike Schopp say it on the radio so I know it’s true! Wyoming is currently 2-6 (0-4 in the Mountain West) and is ranked 120th in the FBS subdivision in total offense. Its a wonder why Allen didn’t effortlessly light up opposing defenses with video game numbers in such an offensive machine known as the Wyoming Cowboys football program. To go from that to this situation in Buffalo - I’m beginning to think that Josh Allen may just be the unluckiest SOB alive. 2 3
davspo Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Based on what I have seen so far, I would trade Allen for Darnold immediately.

He's a turnover machine and was his last year of college, which is what turned me off from him after a really good freshman season. 2 1

Aussie Joe Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 The 4 rookie QB’s have had their ups and downs and all have a long way to go... Let’s revisit this time next year... I will be very surprised if any of them look as good as Mahomes is looking this year though..
VADC Bills Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 (edited) We have taken a step back in talent evaluation. The result will be 3-13 seasons. We are moving in the wrong direction. The QB position is to hard to successfully draft and all of the QB's that were drafted last year seem to have issues regarding consistency that you would expect from a rookie. Allen is the only one that doesn't have a support system and that is poor management. Mayfield is the best and clearly has the best understanding of the game. Allen and Rosen are bringing up the rear in this horse race. All of the QB's are being mentored by QB's that are proven solid QB's except for Allen. Our GM forgot about this aspect of QB development. Allen may not develop until our GM and coach does. Allen is a 3 year project if given an improving O-Line. Edited October 22, 2018 by VADC Bills 1
SCBills Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 (edited) Sam Darnold has looked good at times - Fact Sam Darnold has looked bad at times - Fact Sam Darnold has more talent around him than Allen - Fact Sam Darnold turns the ball over way too much - Fact The last one is what worried fans of teams looking to draft him. He's talented, but for whatever reason, has turned the ball over a lot at USC, and now in the NFL. If he can't fix that, he will never be more than mediocre. Edited October 22, 2018 by SCBills 1
Soda Popinski Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Mayfield is the best QB of the rookies right now and it's not even close. 1
