Much has changed since Tyrod first won the Bills starting job.

In the last 3 offseasons 10 QB's have been drafted in round 1........8 in the past two........ and none of them has busted yet............never been more QB talent in the league..........so not a good time to be a guy like Tyrod.

Basically everyone either has one who has been very good or thinks they have one who can be very good..........which is almost unheard of.

But Tyrod is not the player he was in 2015 or 2016 either.     Not as dynamic as a runner and his once excellent deep ball has abandoned him.

Paxton Lynch appreciates the optimism.  There were 11 drafted but let's pretend he wasn't.  Besides Mahomes, Goff, and Wentz, the remaining seven haven't shown enough yet to say for sure he's the franchise guy for sure.  That ratio doesn't strike me as an outlier over the years.

My bad:rolleyes:...........but Dak Prescott was also drafted that year and he's started ever since and Dallas thinks he's their franchise QB.

So that's 11 QB's drafted in the past 3 seasons that teams still feel are the future of their franchise.

Yes........that's obviously an outlier.

The point is.........it's not a great time to be a veteran in the back half of QB's in the league.    Very few starting opportunities.

This manifested itself last offseason when Kirk Cousins, Case Keenum, Teddy Bridgewater and a more proven-effective version of Josh McCown were all free agents............that would have been an unforeseeable windfall of veteran QB's back when Rex took over in 2015 when the Bills had to trade a 5th round pick just to get a spent Matt Cassell.

Times have most certainly changed at the QB position.

That guy needs to get a grip. The League has seen the very best he can do on the field and being a #1 on an NFL team isn’t happening.

He could have a very long career as a capable back up who can win a few games in relief of an injured starter, but that’s the only role he has available for his remaining time in the League. Last thing he should want to do is cry about it. Sears is going out of bidniz. It’s tough out there in the real world..

...I'm sure there will be a double line of GM's in 2019 shopping for a starter when he is a UFA (cough)............may not be HIS line though........

The truth has always been that TT is a decent backup choice on a team with a starter running a similar type of offense and a pretty good defense to carry them. But he will never be worth 15 mill per season to any team.

Only one team gave Tyrod the crazy money. That was the Bills.

The Browns did give up the 1st pick in the 3rd round to pay him his contract amount as well.

That is true. So maybe two impressive franchises - bills and browns.

You shouldn’t use the word good to describe Taylor anymore

The 19 yard game after last year’s 56 yard games cements that status.

True enough.
