PUNT750 Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Anderson last completed a pass in the NFL on 9-24-17. He was not in any team’s camp this summer. From 2011 through 2017 he was with the Panthers and threw 168 total passes for those 7 years. That means 24 total passes per season. His last TD pass was in 2016. He’s getting $760,000 this year for the Bills. A J McCarron is getting $2.1 mil in Dead Cap money from the Bills. Are we really expecting him to start an NFL game for the Bills in 2018? He’s basically been in retirement for the past 7 years! I think it’s pretty crazy. If Josh can’t play I’d rather see Peterman give it his best. I don't think winning many more games is possible.
SoCal Deek Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 He’s thrown less interceptions in the past decade than Petermans thrown in the last month! I’m good with that. 2 2 1
C.Biscuit97 Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Because he is good at wearing a visor and putting his arm around the starting qb.
Rc2catch Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Well... I think the answer is really simple, he is here because he has learned quite a few playbooks, he knows how to read a defense, he has been a professional for a very long time. Think of him as the assistant quarterbacks coach. He should not play a game this year unless Allen physically can’t go. Hes here to help the young guys plain and simple.
MJS Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 He's a backup. He was a darn good backup in Carolina, BTW. I've considered him to be one of the better backups in the league for a long time. He has usually come in and played well when Cam Newton couldn't play.
Mickey Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 He was recommended by noted QB guru Master Yoda. Smart he is. Strength he has. Wisdom he knows.

He was pretty bad the last time he had to play in 2016. Peterman type numbers. But anything is better than NP.
Koko78 Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 There's no great mystery: He's in Buffalo to mentor Allen. Nothing more, nothing less. 1
Boca BIlls Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 (edited) He got the Browns to 10-6 once... that alone earns him OG status. Edited October 16, 2018 by Boca BIlls 1

Unlike Peterman, he has had good games. As a backup QB, you are going to have bad games, but you should be expected to also have some good games. Anderson has done that.

He is giving his best. Problem is he is GIVING his best to the opponent.

Brianmoorman4jesus Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 He had a pro bowl season in which he put up passing numbers that no recent Bills qb ever dreams of. Other then Orton and Fitz, no qb we have had over the past 15 years was ever even as productive as Anderson was with the browns. Make fun of him all you want. He has had games that we never see from Bills QBs. He’s not even good. I’m not trying to get it twisted. It’s just the other 2 guys we have are just as bad as anyone I have ever seen. Anderson is far from that.

We already know why Anderson is here, but he may be forced into action due to Allen's injury. Going to the well again with Peterman is redundantly pointless.
Brianmoorman4jesus Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 The short answer is because Peterman can’t play in the NFL. The issue is now Allen is making people worry enough that this guy might play more then anyone expected.
