Well no crap. I am saying if you have long flowing hair across the back of your jersey, and its a penalty to pull down by hair... gonna be hard to grab that jersey through the hair without pulling the hair...

Most guy dont tackle by pulling the jersey. You hit and wrap.

The horse collar is only suppose to be called if player gets his hands inside the pads at the neck area and pulls player down from behind.

 

Players have grabbed the jersey nameplate and pulled the player down from behind and that is suppose to not be a horse collar and it usually is not. Only called when the official mistakes that for having hand inside pads at back of neck area.

 

What Ivory and others need are breakaway extensions so defensive player effectively grabs air if he goes for the dreads.

That rule will be a bit different <starting> in the 2016 season. The league approved a proposed rule change from the Competition Committee that will make it illegal when a “defender grabs the jersey at the name plate or above and pulls a runner toward the ground.”

 

It's the pullback action of the tackle that is being eliminated, so inside pads, or grasping the top of the jersey are the same.

Like the other post said, hair is a choice, pads & jersey are not, so hair pull is ignored.

I honestly thought it looked worse.  The jersey would pull on his shoulders.  The hair made his head snap back real quick which could easily result in an injury.
