I believe that he could have said he wanted out because he wasn't going to start. That is debatable. But then he goes to a team where he has a far less chance to start and play than the Bills, and that is okay with him? They should have kept him. He is not the kind of guy to not try in practice or not be ready to play if and when called upon, or not to help Josh.

I posted earlier that he could stomach backing up Carr who is a legit NFL starting QB, but backing up Peterman who doesn't belong in the league and a green as grass Allen was not acceptable to him. Just my take on things to make sense of the situation. Edited October 18, 2018 by 26CornerBlitz

The point is they didn't have to trade him, and they shouldn't have traded him, just because he said he wanted out. Again, he is not going to be the guy to be a locker room cancer, it would ruin everything he has built up about himself his entire life. We all know what McD thinks about Nate, and I think most of us believe this is his team a lot more than it is Beane's. But I would love to know what Beane and Daboll actually think about Peterman when McD isn't in the room.

Beane always says they don't want anyone on the team who doesn't want to be there, so they obliged AJM. I can't see how anyone with football acument sees something worthwhile enough to keep Peterman in a valuable spot on the 53.

It cannot be, under any circumstance, that any player can just go to the team and say I don't want to be here anymore, and the team's position is "we don't want anyone that doesn't want to be here" and they accommodate him. That is just impossible. 2. That's what we would hope. But if I am Brian Daboll, I go to Beane and say, I know coach loves him some Nathan, but he just can't do it in this league. Do we both go to him together?

I would hope there is a culture for open and honest conversation that is very much valued even when it goes against McDermott's feeling.

Or even the backup job. None. 2. We would freakin' hope so, but a) it doesn't appear they utilized it or b) McD said tough toenails, either of which is bad for our future.

He had little bargaining power with the market dried up, but who knows what the conversation was. 2. McDermott will be McDermoot if he makes many more decisions like what has transpired with Peterman.

They gave Peterman first shot with the ones. They gave him the first start. They gave him more time with the ones in practice. They gave up a huge amount for Josh and everyone on Earth, including Kiwi Aboriginals, knew we were drafting a QB #1. There is less than zero chance they promised McCarron a job. You're a reasonable person in this madhouse. You know that is true. 1

I wouldn't have, but I have no doubt he wasn't at all happy to sit behind Peterman and Allen. Beane buckled for some reason.

reddogblitz Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 AJ is a smart guy and been around a football fields and seen other QBs enough to know that Nasty Nate sucked and he would get his chance. If traded, he d probably get no chance. Doesn't make sense. Makes more sense to me that rookie GM Beane, thinking he's Ralphie's Dad at the Christmas tree lot, was thinking of all that cool stuff he could do with a 3rd round pick in March and forgot our line sucks and we got 2 QB s injured in PS. This whole off sea son/season has been a series of shots to the foot. 1
