Kelvin Benjamin and Nathan Peterman gone. Name Anderson the starter if you want, I'm OK with that now that Allen is injured. But KB and NP? They need to be gone. At this point, I don't even care what we get back for them. No offense, but your needs mean nothing here. Mine too, I'm not pointing you out specifically but I don't run around talking about what I need from the Bills. Anyway, Benjamin had a pretty good game last week. If the holding penalty hadn't taken away one of his long completions (35 or 40 yards, wasn't it?), he'd have been very productive. Yeah, he looked bad earlier, but knee-jerk reactions like you're suggesting don't make sense.

Can you blame him, really ? Anyway, I’m sure he realized the optics of not beating out a raw rookie and Peterpickoff would be a career killer. Best to get shipped off to Oakland and backup an entrenched ( for now) starter.

However, after reviewing the 24 plays Peterman was in the game on the coaches film, I don't know how you can justify giving him another chance as the starting quarterback. You have to give credit where it's due, and for Peterman, he deserves it for not only his touchdown pass to Zay Jones but on a third-and-long throw over the middle of the field to Andre Holmes. However, past those two throws, Peterman exhibited the traits of being a liability on the field and a player that is quite simple to game plan against for opposing teams. The book is out on Peterman. He struggles, on a consistent basis, to drive the ball to the boundary. The location on those throws is usually behind the target and Peterman mostly stares down his target on those plays. With such a weakness in this area, it allows the defense to bait Peterman into those throws -- as we've seen in almost every game that Peterman has played in the regular season. Without those throws, a struggling offense has one less thing that it can depend on to gain yards. These are necessary throws, non-negotiable even, and it puts the team at a complete disadvantage to have a quarterback that hasn't shown he can do it, and that isn't confident in that area, either. The quarterback situation is less than ideal for the Bills, but I don't see any reason to believe that starting Peterman over Derek Anderson, even though Anderson has been with the Bills for all of one week, would be better for the team. This decision isn't one that they wanted to make, but it's an easy one nonetheless. Reduce the offensive playbook and play it safe with Anderson and the running game, and bide your time until Allen is ready to get back on the field. One of the most sensible writings I’ve seen from Joe B. 1

The Bills are screwed if Anderson gets injured, which is VERY possible if he isn't quite yet in football shape. Bills will have Peterman and no back up. I guess I'm leaning this way now, but still hate the start Peterman part. At this point you can't bring anybody else in so we have to deal with reality. I cannot believe this regime did not sign anybody else this week. Peterman better have the ***** game of his life (ie only 2-3 interceptions) or else I hope everybody's head rolls from Beane on down.

26CornerBlitz Posted October 17, 2018 Author Posted October 17, 2018 Just now, In Nate We Trust said: Derek Anderson is fine, but if he gets hurt it is Nate Peterman and nobody else going into the Pats. Starting Peterman with a very safe game plan and giving the job to Derek Anderson with one more week of preparation for the Pats is much more logical. McDermott might not have the toughness though to deal with backlash of starting Peterman. Also, if you start Peterman, who just build an gameplan with McCoy carrying the load. It is time they start running the ball. This team needs to live and die with the run and their defense. Ridiculous. Peterman is too limited and very easy to game plan against with defenses continually baiting him into INTs. He has no business taking the field unless there is no other QB because of injury. The team cannot have a turnover machine under center with the way this defense is playing that gives them a legitimate chance to win each week. No Peterman!
26CornerBlitz Posted October 17, 2018 Author Posted October 17, 2018 Just now, In Nate We Trust said: Peterman is the safer of two options right now. Anderson is not ready to play in an NFL game. Do you want the Bills playing a Monday Night game against the Pats with Nathan Peterman starting and no backup on the roster? Well that is what happens if Anderson gets injured. Considering he was sitting on his couch for the last 6 months there is a good chance he gets hurt behind this line. Get him ready for the national game against the Pats. The Colts are 1-5. The Bills can beat them with their defense and running game. There's nothing safe about Nathan Peterman playing QB for the Bills as he's proven each time he's played and you have no idea of Anderson's readiness. He's familiar with basic concepts that Daboll believes in from their time together in Cleveland. Offensive coordinator Brian Daboll is comfortable with the idea of starting Anderson. The former Alabama play caller knows that Anderson is working day and night to master Buffalo’s offense. “He’s picking it up,” Daboll said. “To come off the street and come in, he’s upstairs right now, he’s upstairs all the time. I don’t think you can put the whole thing on him. He’s played a long time, so concepts are concepts. It’s understanding the language. He’s grinding it out.” Anderson’s familiarity with a Daboll-run offense is helping him comprehend the Bills’ offensive system. Daboll served as Anderson’s offensive coordinator in 2009, a season in which the former Pro Bowl quarterback started seven games for the Browns. “Some [carry over], some,” Daboll said. “Again, that’s a long time ago, so it’s like learning a new language. He’s a veteran; he’s been around a while.
