billsfan89 Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 If Allen's injury won't be made worse by basic playing motions and he is able to Allen should play. If Allen is unable to go, Anderson has had over a week to study the playbook and will have a full week to practice and get a semblance of the playbook. I don't have high expectations for Anderson if he is called upon but we know Peterman can't get the job done. 4 minutes ago, gobills1212 said: Becuase you, more than anyone of the other fans, have inside info that he has lost the team. This is silly. Make arguments based on facts. Not silly opinions. You DONT know. You dont even know WHY they act like that IF they even are? Making arguments on your assumptions as though you are part of the team puts the entire basis of your arguments in doubt. It makes it to easy to poke holes in it. Its why some posts become unbearable. Why would Allen be losing the team anyway? The team is 2-3 with him as a starter and in the last game he lost it was Peterman who blew the game. Allen has made big plays and the defense and offense has to feel he gives them the best chance to win.

People forget about bc he jumped over a linebacker and we won. Allen needs to sit. He needs it more than he needs more game experience. He needs the game to slow down for him before he can even begin to develop

YOU HAVE NO IDEA You don't need to be in the locker room to get some idea. Again, watch the WRs when Allen screws up a throw (which is often). Their body language tells you everything. It's been getting worse as the season has gone along. Also, use some common sense. Our defense is clearly playoff caliber. We're losing because we can't move the ball, and we can't move the ball because our QB is so limited. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that if there's little to no improvement week to week that eventually players are going to start pointing fingers, and coaches are going to start questioning whether they made the right call with him. We might not be there yet, but we're close. Keep starting him and we'll get there soon if Allen doesn't improve dramatically. Edited October 14, 2018 by VW82

He's at a much greater risk of losing confidence by going right back out there and continuing to stink it up. Teammates and coaches will lose confidence, which is already happening btw. Watch the body language of the WRs. It's pretty tough for a young guy to succeed when his own organization is losing faith. Plus, it sure looks like he could use the time to decompress and regroup, not to mention heal up. Elbow injuries are no joke for QBs. Because Anderson is not going to make that much of a difference. What exactly are we gaining with him out there especially only being here for a week. If Allen is 100% healthy he should start pure and simple. No using this injury as an excuse to hide your rookie QB. Allen is going to take his lumps this year and hopefully it makes him a better player. Funny how most people wanted Allen to start and now want to play some journeyman backup like that is going to save the season. It is on Daboll to keep things simple for Allen and manufacture some offense with the guys we have. The front office needs to take a long look in the offseason to overhauling that side of the ball if Allen is going to have any shot at being successful.
Call_Of_Ktulu Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 Anderson sucks, I will just watch the defense play and change to another game when the offense is on the field. I still cannot believe Anderson is even on this team. Castillo needs to be fired in the bye week with Peterman and KB. 1

This isn't about Anderson, it's about what's best for Allen and protecting our investment in him. Again, we're taking a big risk continuing to play Allen and having him perform terribly while the season slips away. These risks include: 1. loss of confidence from teammates and coaching staff. 2. loss of self-confidence from Allen. 3. outside pressure from ownership, media, fans, etc., to label Allen a bust or at least bring in a starting caliber QB to compete next year. 4. increased risk of injury given Allen's poor decision making. The benefits to sitting Allen for a few weeks include: 1. immediately takes the pressure off him and allows him the chance to watch, learn, regroup, and work on some of the fundamentals that have popped back up with increasing frequency the last couple of weeks. 2. Allen won't be blamed for a lost season. McD will take the heat for starting him too early. 3. keeps his confidence intact because now it's a situation where the organization is holding him back as appose to him continuing to fail miserably. 4. when Allen does return, the season will already be down the toilet so he'll have a pressure-free environment with which to work through his issues. Everyone will understand it's all about Allen at that point, and so he'll get more leeway. Edited October 15, 2018 by VW82 2
McBean Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 Start Peterman rest of the way to make sure we get #1 overall pick.

dgrochester55 Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 (edited) Peterman needs to go. I don't care if a less than 100% Josh Allen, Derek Anderson with limited playbook knowledge or even someone else off of the street starts next week, someone else other than Peterman has to start. Peterman has 11 interceptions in 91 pass attempts, let that sink in for a bit. Maybe Peterman get it done in practice and preseason but something does not click in a real game. That is more that a rookie mistake or bad game, that is a disturbing pattern. It's not going to happen for Peterman it never will, it is time to move on. Edited October 15, 2018 by dgrochester55

But neither do you.... which makes this a moot point. Maybe this D is playoff worthy. Heres the thing... its not a finished product. Like the dope on 550 after S&B saying this team is wasting one of the leagues best Ds. This is essentially a developmental year. Develop the foundation and once the prior regimes mess is clear - add players with $$ or draft and get even better! The D is ahead of the O. Next years O will be like the difference between this years Sabres team and last. Ideally, Allen comes along and next year we are all the better for it. Add some peices and they are on their way. I could make assumptions like you to further this argument BUT why? The likelihood of there being more than 2 or 3 guys in the WR corps getting carried over are slim anyway. Remember what you are watching. THIS year isnt important from a W-L stand point. If you wanna cry the sky is falling, you are more than welcome to bc to each their own. Just keep in mind this is all quite silly big picture. Dont be silly mad Bills fan yelling at ghosts. Try and keep some perspective and keep your arguments based on tangible things u can back up with proof rather than a skewed and flawed assumption. In the grand scheme of things lets even assume you are right. If we are building toward the future, who cares if some practice squad wr or special teams specialist masquerading as a WR is showing bad body language?? Mmmaaaayyybbbbeeeee they are mad they are blowing their 'shot'?? Who knows?? Not me.. and not you So lets not pretend like we should trot Anderson out there. Bc THAT is giving up. Allen was the most raw of the rooks. Its not a suprise. He is playing, and he needs to continue to do so if you want him to develop. Your impatience now will only hurt you in the long run. Respectfully, im glad you arent evaluating the situation or in charge of the team bc a new drought would be underway. Edited October 15, 2018 by gobills1212
stony Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 Anderson didn't really look to be in game shape.

This is a perfect opportunity for the Bills to pull him off the field for a few games and let him gain a little perspective. Prior to the injury, Allen was terrible today...again. He was just as likely to get injured running the ball along the sideline and getting drilled by that Houston LB in the first half when he chose not to run out of bounds. He missed multiple open receivers. On 3rd and goal, he ran out of the pocket when there was no pressure, and short sided himself with only one available receiver (Jones) who was covered. Allen didn't seem to understand Houston had a spy on him so he couldn't just run it in. We've seen him do this several times now, including preseason. Peterman's career in Buffalo is over whether he gets cut or not. It's still early, but Josh isn't getting better. He doesn't understand what's happening pre-snap. He has a tendency to run backwards at the slightest hint of pressure. He's frequently wildly inaccurate with his throws. He makes bad decisions. Anderson isn't the perfect solution, but right now he's the best option short-term for the team, and long-term for Allen's development. The kid needs a breather. He needs to watch and learn. I thought Anderson was here to mentor, not play. Because he's no good.

Again, I don't know as im not on the team - but from embedded McD seems to be pretty good at building a 'team'. Id hope that its not an act and they cant even get though 6 weeks w/o falling apart. Had he not written so much i doubt he would have been indulged

If you read the dude's post you'd understand that he's not speaking from impatience. He's suggesting that Allen's development may benefit from having a few weeks off to regroup and take the pressure off him. You may disagree with that approach, but your certainty in your own opinion makes you guilty of exactly the level of hubris you accuse him of.

Im sorry you feel that way - but believe me- i understood. Had you have read MY post, you would have understood i adknowledge the gist of what he said about WHY (sit, watch etc) and disagree, BEACAUSE (and mostly the players 'quitting' and how its not something you or i know)of the aforementioned issues... So its not as much about which approach is right and which is wrong, but the reasons (again - one in particular)he backed his argument with. Had he cited some sort of stats or something - great. Making an assumption that the team has quit on him is kinda silly and what i took/take issue w/. Just as i put no hope in his ability to GM, i put no hope in your ability to referee. Then again, were you out there today?? THAT i'd believe Thanks though! Edited October 15, 2018 by gobills1212
