He was expected to finish in the top 2 in both, at worst

Finishing 4th or 5th would be a disaster for Joe. Not even a SC win could save him then.

You backed the wrong horse. I tried to warn ya'. ;)

But Mayor Pete had him when he said hello.

Remind yourself of our bet please...

I'm aware you have the field, but your first forays into this thread Biden was your dude. Our bet evolved from that point ;)

It didn't evolve in the sense that you think it did. You just always seemed to misunderstand my thoughts about the candidates and it seems you still do a bit.

From the beginning I said I wanted the field, not Biden.

From the beginning you said it was a sure thing that Joe would win the nomination and beat Trump.

You hit that hard, repeatedly (not that you wanted Joe, but that's how it would go) -- I told you that Joe had no chance.

And he doesn't.

Not sure thing but that he's the most likely candidate.

And my opinion on that hasn't changed.

You might want to reassess.

(This all is intended in good natured ribbing, just for clarity, Transplant)

I find it interesting that both Sanders and Warren got as many votes as they did. I would have thought they were both going after the same Democrat-Socialist segment, making their numbers both lower. That they are both high tells me that it's the Democrat-Socialist segment of the party that is energized and showing up, and the more moderate segment is probably staying home.

I get it. But it's Iowa. What is it... like 1% of the delegates they give out?

I know your argument is that historically the Iowa caucuses are largely predictive , especially if combined with New Hampshire. But the race was never really starting for Biden until South Carolina.

And while historical trends may lean one way, you've claimed multiple times 2016 flipped the world on its head, so saying that while throwing out historical trends is a convenient contradiction, no? :nana:
