I never said it's free.

Taxes will obviously go up.

Not acceptable.  I already pay a schiit ton of taxes. Why don't you just pay my share since you like  paying more taxes. I'm assuming that works for you given how free you are to raise taxes.

Wait. It doesn't work for you? Well, then, STFU about paying more taxes until you're willing to pay my fair share. Deal?

I don't get how there can be no savings when everyone who uses this model pays considerably less for healthcare than the US.

The main problem is other countries have similar tax rates even with a single payer system mostly because we spend significantly more on a strong national defense.

Convincing people that a slight increase in taxes will save you money in the long run because you don't have to pay medical deductibles and copays is a tough sell.  We're not ready for it yet and may never be.

   and

A VAT tax is a tax on a tax on a tax (into infinity). There is a reason there is a large underground cash economy in nearly every country with state run health insurance. The day to day taxes are insane.

VAT's are a way to hide themselves from the general public. Politicians can raise taxes without everyday Joe being aware of it and they should never, ever take hold here.

Don’t stop at beef.  Milk and cheese and ice cream and butter too!

I wonder if veal would be a cheaper alternative.

There’s some good stuff in this article https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/new-york-city-mayor-bill-de-blasio-drops-2020-bid-n1056791

But his campaign never took off. A slew of national polls showed him stuck with just 1 percent support — and often times even less. A Siena College poll released earlier this week showed him with 0 percent, even in New York City.

...

His brief campaign was marred with sparsely attended events and a bevy of unforced errors.

He made headlines in August after an event in Iowa drew only about 15 people.

De Blasio attempted to use Twitter to brand Trump as “ConDon,”but that, too, drew mockery because it means condom in Spanish.

He was never running anyways. I wish some of the 11 would bow out. Part of me hopes Sanders stays in because if he doesn’t, Warren should win the nomination. I can’t stomach seeing her “plans” that close to the presidency.

If she wins the nomination, I’ll enjoy her making Trump look stupid (not that hard) but I’ll never vote for her.

John, you've been dead for a long time. Your vote has already been cast for a Democrat.

The good news is that he will be off the national stage. The bad news is that he might redouble his efforts as NYC Mayor and work 14 hours per month.

Yes, but Ben, Beginners Mind and most likely Thomas Jefferson have yet to vote. Oh, and I heard Zachary Taylor requested an absentee ballot.

We're not ready for it because this U.S. government has virtually no track record of collecting taxes and delivering a service to the people with efficiency, fiscal discipline and at a good level of service.

It's gut busting laughable, out of breath oh my god I'm gonna die laughable that out government will take this on, save the population money and run the thing well with government workers.

***** hysterical.

Never is a strong word.  Would a Katy Perry concert sway you?

OK Bucky, you apparently know me well. I voted for a Dem presidential candidate once in the 30 years I’ve been voting and that vote was in the Bush/Gore election...and I had to hold my nose to do it.

Nope. Nor did a Trump rally.
