Good post.

If he wants to go ? then make the deal. and try to make Philly pay through the nose !

....sure as hell won't be any "nostalgia deals" to return him to his roots with a better shot at a championship......and I doubt Roseman "pays through the nose"...prolly signs Gillie......too bad the Chipster is gone...............

I agree they wouldn't have. I'm saying they are wrong in not doing so. And they couldve franchised him if they couldn't agree on terms.

Do you think he would be worth the money he’s likely be asking for.  We know how much KC gave him. Do you think he’s worth that?

You guys and your love of draft picks! A  mere 3rd round for a superstar like Shady to go to a team in NOW desperation mode would such a bad trade! Get way more or keep the man!

And the other players in that locker room would be quite dejected. It'd be the management saying "season's over, all for next year" but keep pushing through pain and injuries... Maybe the GM is tempted but I'm not sure the coaches are

you always answer the phone. What Beanes does next is crucial on this matter.

Bud at work asked me about this today. I said i might have to rethink being a fan,Of this current regime specifically
It's the wrong direction to go as a Team. At this point in time.
only caveat is if Shady wants a trade.

McBeane's have been sympathetic and honest with players. I would not be surprised they might even ask Shady how he feels if Philly is calling.

If Shady wants to go I will accept the trade and move on.
One of my faults is loyalty.

 i nearly cried over Fred.

I think if shady gets traded, it happens this Friday. Eagles play tomorrow night so he's no good to them this week and they don't want him potentially getting hurt Sunday. I think their is a tentative deal in place and it'll happen Friday.

How about doing right by the team? Don’t think they care about whether he wants to be in Philly.

Can you extrapolate YOLO.

doing right by the Team ?

IF they are getting call AND he wants to go ?

I say you make the best deal you can.

Run Ivory Murphy and Jones till they puke

till you find the fit McBeanes envisions  at RB position  and I might Imagine they want one via the Draft ...

If the Bills think it is the right move for the team, meaning the compensation is appropriate to where they believe they are doing the right thing for the team, then make the trade. That’s it.

it should have nothing to do with whether he, the player, wants to stay or go.

So I was scanning the first 2 pages and misread a title as "Someone needs to be Fired over McCoy Right Now"

That would pretty much be how I would feel if he's traded this season.

My feeling from watching body language in McCoy's presser and McDermott's presser is that in fact, Philly has called Beane with an offer and both McCoy and McDermott know about it.

I think the offer was lowball and Beane may have countered something like "talk starts at your best 2nd and a 3rd" and Philly said "laters then"

I think McDermott isn't happy about the thought that Philly might ante up.

I don't think McCoy thinks it will happen.

Sometimes it seems like the owner, the GM, and the coach all think they're unwrapping Topps wax packs, and after buying a few new packs, get rid of what they unwrapped a few days ago.  It's 'their' team, so they're free to do so, just an observation on my part.  However, this is the first time I've ever noticed a Bills front office looking like a ten year old coming out of the corner store with their latest supply of football cards.

A 3rd is EXACTLY what he is worth. It would be a 4th or 5th but the Eagles are a little desperate.

Worth to whom?

I didn't like the Dareus trade.  It sent our D into a 3 game run-over-us tailspin.  I thought a 5th was ridiculously low compensation for a former 1st round pick who had been one of the best DTs in football and was still a competent run stuffer, but I "bought" the whole "Process" thing: OK, he's the highest paid player and maybe he's not setting the kind of high bar for work ethic like your highest paid guy has to do.

There can be none of that with McCoy.  None.  He's a leader, he seems to have bonded with Allen, he's a team captain.  You trade him, you're trading (in terms of talent and demonstrated football abilities) your heart.  2nd and 3rd round picks overall have about a 1 in 3 chance of working out.  If you trade McCoy for a 2nd and a 3rd, there's something like 60% odds you get one good football player back.  Maybe that's worth it.  Maybe.

They're going to have more cap space than they know what to do with next year already, what does McCoy's $9M matter to them?

At some point you have to play football, not trade away every good player on the team.

A 4th or 5th is a player who has maybe 10-20% odds of working out.  That would be ridiculous.

You have the correct attitude from a business perspective absolutely , and quite possibly in the social dynamics that the NFL maintains.
I think Shady is nearly the best player on the Team. I loathe the mindset of removing every single player from the previous regime. and i have felt Shady has been a fine TeamPlayer.

For me i have to consider there is always more to the story when a trade happens. Such as Bills listening to calls because they should , but perhaps the whole House robbery and all the DV accusations etc have brought up some concerns about " Process fitting up ".

straight up compensation via draft picks who will have more risk and a learning curve ? not for me on this fellow. Trade Clay Trade Benjamin and throw in half the O line for all i care !!

there is no simple math equation for me, and Bills players being traded

Thanks for your succint point because i respect that view  !

The trading of McCoy is not as big of a deal as some are making it out to be.  I expected this to be his final year in Buffalo.  Now I would want one of their young backs in return.  Smallwood or Clement and a 2nd or 3rd.  It's a situation that came calling and one I would consider.

I like his post, even if i wasn't  extremely biased.

you are correct about how McD dealt with it in the presser.

He made sure to NOT say.

Bills have called for a trade.

Texans, Jaguars, and Bears will feast on Bills Offensive Line. They are terrible matchups for the Bills.

So are the Vikings...

BTW, I listed the Bears along with New England as most likely not wins. Anyone can beat the Texans and Jaguars this year. Doesn't mean we will, but if we do nobody is going to say it was some monumental feat.

Nooo!  Please not another 8-8 year.  Just not this one time.   Look good, grow, identify areas unable to grow into the role and then replace.  2019 - do our best with our good D and very young O and onward from there always forward and never straight.  ?

I would MUCH rather go 8-8 than anything less than that. I don't want the top pick in the draft. I don't want a top 10 pick in the draft. I want the team to be competitive every single year and win asany games as possible.
