What happened was Jackson hit the ball with his hand between Holmes hands as Holmes was about to catch it. He knocked it up in the air and caught it. Great play by him actually.

It was. The defender had the benefit of facing the play, whereas Holmes did not.

Not only that, but it was a rifle of a pass. The timing of the throw was pretty good, but that's a hard catch for anyone, based on reaction time alone. The ball was "there" right after getting his body turned around.

It was also a terrible pattern. Took him forever to stop and turn for the ball. That is not an NFL WR play before the ball got there. He should not be a regular WR at all.

So the team who shut us out last week loses to the Lions, and the Bills beat a team who, in the last two weeks, beat the Super Bowl champs and the Jags.

ok

Never bet against the Bills when the entire planet lines up to take their smart money shot...or 5K

If the Bills do not attempt to stretch the field a number of times a game the D will just load the box.

Daboll still has to call an NFL caliber game.

Josh needs to be able to attempt to go down field.

He was off a lot today but he needs  receivers  (Holmes) to make those catches.

Totally agree with the point being made, but IMO, the timing of that was wrong.

At some point in time, the Bills need to take a shot immediately after a turnover. I get keeping the defense honest, but taking a deep shot right after a turnover, while the opponent is reeling, typically yields an increased chance for success on the play. Considering the fact that Allen is young and raw, Daboll should take advantage when given the best opportunity. The flea flicker to start the game, for example, would probably have been a much better call after one of those turnovers. Jmo

Edit: again, timing is my point. The very first play probably wasn't the best time to call a FF, even though it was after a turnover. No one as fooled.

Yep, the DB had absolutely no respect for Holmes speed.   He didn't back off a bit and was more athletic, planting and driving on the ball.

That was all on Holmes...

Tennessee was on a 3 game winning streak?   They are not a bad team.

It was a defensive battle

They were terrible. They couldn't hang on to the ball. They dropped an easy TD in the fourth. They couldn't block well. Mariotta looked bad. They didn't try to take advantage of Marlowe. They didn't really utilize Bill-killer Lewis who had a few good plays. They didnt really try to confuse or blitz Josh. They were worse than us.

instead of sitting on it Holmes should have worked his way back to the ball.....then turn it upfield (if he can)

Or our defense just played well?

Its ok to give credit to our D...which has been playing well for a while now

How bout Shady pulling out the Madden spin on that 3rd n short. What a stud, looking in the other direction to spin out of that, just not fair to the defender????

That was the play of the game imo. Shady knew it was man coverage and saw him overpursuing, great play
