Patrick Duffy Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Watch him grab about 3 TDs and 100yds when the Bills go against the Fins. 1
KW95 - JA17 Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Keep your cool guys,,,,We have Clay....You know, the player who has 1 or 2 good games per year..like all Bill's players. 1

And for as slow as he was — dude got separation on game day. Bad move to let him go. Yeah that was a move I didn't understand. The guy made plays for us on gamedays.

Not only did Nick O'Leary get open a lot but he could have been targeted a lot more too. Starting to really doubt the evaluation abilities of McD. 4 hours ago, Ol Dirty B said: If O'leary is the reason you suck... Well he's not actually the reason you suck. He wasn't very good. Complaining about his loss just shows the amount of talent the offense lacked to begin with. ....because Lee is Gronk compared to Nick.....Lee tearing it up this year with 1 reception for 5 yards and 3 penalties. Yea, it was cool that he’s related to the famous golfer, but outside of that I think Croom has him beat.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Good for him, not that we need dependable guys who can catch or anything. 1
Spiderweb Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Nick O'Leary was the prototypical lunch pail Buffalo guy. Good hands and knew how to get open. May not have had the wheels one would like, but he played hard and never stopped trying. He deserved a better date with the Bills but ultimately lost out to Croom, Lee, and Thomas who are all physically superior but none have shown his heart or ability to make key plays. I miss him. 3

I'd keep him over Lee and Thomas, those guys are bums.
RobbRiddick Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 O' Leary plays without gloves, Lee plays without a brain and Benjamin plays without a heart. Someone needs to organise these guys a trip to see the great and powerful Oz. 1 3

No, O'Leary is not Tony Gonzales or Greg Olsen, but he's serviceable and actually catches balls thrown his way. From what I've seen thus far, O'Leary is better than Croom and Lee. 100% agree with this. And a million miles better than Logan freaking Thomas. 2
Buddo Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 The evidence so far, is that letting O'Leary go, was a mistake, and will likely remain a mistake, until such time as Lee and Thomas learn how to get open, catch and block. Oh, and not get penalized. I get keeping Croom, he's shown something, and has distinct upside, but neither Lee or Thomas has done anything positive of note. They may both be physical specimens, but they aren't displaying football smarts, and O'Leary has football smarts. All of this crap about 'nobody else wanted O'Leary so he must suck' is just that. This is about the Bills, and the Bills could have used him, and tbh, could still use him. Imho, it's a poor decision, and as importantly, poor evaluation, of the type that said Peterman would play okay when things got real. I've seen no evidence at all, that either Lee or Thomas have done anything that could be construed as helping out a rookie QB, be it blocking or receiving, and to the contrary, Lee at least, is giving away dumb penalties. 1 1
Peter Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 I guess O'Leary just was not part of the "culture" that McBeane wanted for the Bills.

Jerome007 Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 IDK why but he was wide open for at least 3-5 plays per year. That counts for something. Overall, it depends how good he was at blocking, really.
DaBillsFanSince1973 Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 whelp, there's another notch in the Beane/McD belt of failure...
