I don't think it makes sense for Guerrier to be gone after this season.  To me he DEFINITELY needs another year of development.

I think Griffen looks like an NBA player if he can get out of his own head and out of Boeheim's doghouse.

Griffin has the skill set of an NBA player just not the consistency. And I agree with Quincey.. he comes back he could be an All American if he continues to grow his game

Agreed re Guerrier needing to come back. But I am always wrong about this!

In four years, Guerrier could develop a great outside shooting game and post-up game. It’s what Brissett should have done too.

It's tough. Even though Syracuse hasn't had the regular season success as of late.. it's still Syracuse

And boeheim recruits kids with NBA dreams and can develop them.. and most of those kids don't last four years

I remember being pissed when they stripped 100 wins right on the door step of 1000 for Boeheim. A few years later he needs 18-20 more wins now to officially be there.

Also being in the heart of NC and surrounded by ACC fans its awesome getting to watch Cuse when they start to lock it down and play their best ball of the year in the tournament.

I'm still pissed about it...teams have committed far worse offenses and basically get a slap on the wrist

We know Coach Boeheim already has 1k. And I do not disagree about other teams making up programs for athletes to hold an eligible GPA getting off easier. He will officially be there soon. Hopefully we'll be talking about Elite 8 soon.

Agreed. don’t get me started on this. The notion that Roy Williams and UNC got away with straight up academic fraud is so infuriating.

I was kind of fuming the other night when they showed Huggins’ stats and Boeheim was on the list, short of 1000.

Was randomly watching the highlights of the 2003 Syracuse/Kansas championship game. Sort of forget how stacked that team was, and how young! Other than Kueth Duany , all underclassmen. Had everyone stayed and Edelin stayed out of trouble, we could have had a little dynasty there.

The other thing I forgot was how Duany Actually had a really nice game in the final— scoring about 11 points and hitting some big 3’s, as well as playing his usual good defense. He was a real present surprise as that season developed, especially after losing Deshaun Williams at the start of the season and with Edelin’s suspension.

It was a super young team! I reckon maybe one of the youngest national championship team in history.. or close too with that kentucky squad

I want on a binge of Syracuse games (and watching the Cubs World Series TV broadcasts for the first time) at the beginning of the pandemic when we didn't have any sports to watch. Teams like the 2003 team and the MCW Final Four team looked like they were playing a totally different sport from what we saw last year and most of this year. They ran the floor so much and were just everywhere defensively.

Our defensive intensity so far in the tournament has been a really pleasant surprise.

I can't imagine he'll actually leave early, but I wouldn't be surprised if Buddy tests the waters this offseason to get feedback from NBA teams.

Yes! A lot of people on this thread complain that boeheim plays too slow

And I always said these last few years with no depth have forced us to play slow, but boeheim historically recruits great athletes who love to run the floor and get out in transition

Boeheim is slowly getting back to that style, and we have the athletes to do it now.. we just need to get stops on defense so we can run in transition

Richmond, Guerrier, Griffen, Dolezaj and Braswell are all tremendous in transition... And Buddy is a three-point specialist running the floor

Agree completely re those other Syracuse teams. We have been so used to the last 5 years or so of just grind-it out iso ball or pick and rolls with no rolls on offense, and just much less athletic and slower defenders, or guys that don’t understand the Defense or who aren’t playing natural positions.

those other cuse teams were athletic, fast, and smooth. I remember when they would be one of the best fast break teams even. In that 2003 tourney, they were scoring in the 80s and 90s.

Before the sanctions we always had one of the best fast break teams in the nation

I think with this incoming draft class we are getting closer to that

great article. (By the way, don’t you love how we have to go through google now since Post Standard is making all the Bball articles $$ articles?).

I will say that shin splints are no joke. I had those about 5 years ago playing hoops and they just got worse and worse. The only thing that helps is prolonged rest. I had to shut it down for like 6 weeks.

Fortunately I never had shin splints, but my brother was a hurdler who had them and he said it made it impossible
