They have to make their decision and it’s up to them.” That was before his departure was announced. That sounds like he was fired, to me. Either way, this unceremonious ending to a career that spanned more than half of this man’s life seems like a real kick in the nuts. He could have gone out on his own terms, but seems like he was refusing to be clear as to his intentions and timeline. Smart move by the school to just quickly put an end to it. Yeah, I interpreted that as him saying it was up to the university to determine how they handle the remainder of his contract, as depending on the contract coaches typically get compensated better if they are fired than if they retire/resign. I could be totally off though. It was rumored that JB had decided to retire way back in 2017, but the university allowed him to change his mind at the last minute which pissed off Mike Hopkins who was expecting to take over. Not sure how much of that is true. It could very well be that he was coerced to retire after the past two abysmal seasons. I just feel like it should/could have been handled with a lot more grace. But I don't know anything about the relationship with JB and the university. I don’t think red is getting rid of the zone buddy… I know it’s been a rough few years… maybe a mix of zone with some man But you know, As well as I know… When you get the five right pieces the zone is dominant We always had long PGs… 6’6 , 6’7 SG… 7’7 wingspan centers … and 6’8 , 6’9 forwards We were always the longest team in the country for years We haven’t been the last five years… The Probation and losing scholarships really hurt the program With getting kids that we were used to We went from perennial top 70 kids… Too Top 200 kids I wouldn’t mind sticky man to man… But if red recruits To what we’re used too I’d see his variant of the zone Edited March 10, 2023 by Buffalo716 Quote
