"Union officer Sara Khan said traditional clapping can cause issues for students with autism, sensory issues or deafness."

Tell me .... how the !@#$ can a noise affect someone with deafness?

They need to ban signs next, it disenfranchises and discriminates against the blind.

Clappy McClapper isn't wanted there......apparently neither is common sense.  Looks like British millennials are on par with US ones.....do they compare notes???

So-called "jazz hands", she said, encouraged an "environment of respect".

Yeah, right. Jazz hands just makes you look ridiculous.

I have spoken to the President of the Manchester Student's Union and they confirmed to me that a passionate dislike for Sean McDermott's ability to clap his way through an offensive shutout last Sunday was the catalyst for change.

They think your trying to do sign language and pass out trying to follow it?

That article is ludicrous.  IF they are sooo worried about triggering issues then:

1) remove all white males

2) get rid of anything that has a scent (perfume)

3) not use anything but natural light

4) keep the room cool (probably too cold for the women left in the audience)

5) etc..

In essence,  there are ALWAYS things that upset those with sensory issues.

why wouldn't the sign language symbol for clapping not be actual clapping?  It would be universally recognized and interpreted as.....clapping.

Well, glad to see one nation on earth is more !@#$ed than we are.

The brits are going toe to toe with us to see who is the most messed up place in the world.  A friend of mine after reading the jazz hands story said we need a new word to describe those more delicate than a snowflake.
